can someone... anyone show me where it has been officaly confirmed who if any squad members are permenant?

Well I hope so. It just wouldn't be right otherwise. Part of the whole fun is being able to pick your own squad, surely BW knows that.... Right? Oh nnnnoooooeeeesss! Now I am starting to PANIC! lol

>.> Apparently there is a Wrex like decision in the game

What do you mean?  You have a chance to needlessly slay a squadmate when the alternative would be something as simply as "yo, remember all I've done for you? yeah, so trust me now u mother trucker"? lol

What I want to know is how can characters like Garrus and Tali be confirmed full time squade mates when you could have lost them in game 2? They cant be full timers in that sense because than everyone would have to have them in game 3 to start with. Bioware did say tho that if you lost characters in game 2 that there would be other characters that would fill in for them. It more or less feels to me that you will have only 6 to 8 party member spots and it may be up to you on who you want as your full time squad members for the most part and on some missions, may have to take someone out and replace him/her with a guest member.

I came to the franchise first via Mass Effect 2. The second squad characters resonate far more with me than the original crew. That being said, I would have to imagine that the fans who started with Ashley/Kaidan/Wrex, etc., must have felt burned with their diminished roles in ME2.

This beggars the question as to why Bioware didn't simply build the ME3 squad - predominantly - around a "new" team. Doing so would have negated the divide between fans of both previous outings, and then every previously introduced squaddie could have been featured in the finale on the same page (more or less).

In fact Bioware had the makings of that new crew in newly-mobile EDI, Vega, the Prothean and is the "Vigilante" character still in the mix or just an urban myth? One thing the other prominent Bioware franchise did pretty well was in elevating the status of tertiary characters to full party member in Dragon Age 2. Merrill & Isabela; Anders had a larger role in the expansion pack Awakening, but he sort of counts too.

If you ask me, I think that there were second or third string players in the Mass Effect franchise who could have served, and even been accepted by fans. Kal'Reegar, Feron/Kolyat, Captain Kirrahe would have given us a Quarian, Drell and Salarian member in place of other favorites (who could still appear in cameo roles). At the very least, I wonder if this was even considered - in order to mute the blowback from fans who would split their opinions based on which of the earlier chapters they preferred?

the reason why they have stuck with using characters from ME1 is a combination of things which is that it reducing the amount of variations on your squad thanks to decisions you make in Mass Effect 2, Casey Hudson said that Mass Effect 2 was all about you building a team to help stop the reapers and Mass Effect 3 is about trying to defeat the Reapers.

By introducing a new team you will have to introduce missions like the ones we had in ME2 that was adding background to them.

Why does everybody make a big deal out of his accent?

Tali sounds like an electronic middle eastern woman, Garrus sounds like some New york /Chicago wise guy.

So what's wrong with it? or is the standard Ancient powerful races must have stuff ye old english accents?

Tali is patterned after an Eastern European Gypsy.

So says Liz Sroka and I imagine she'd know.

Correct, when pointing at quarians as an example it would be better to point out that Kal'reager is Adam Baldwin and sounds like he belongs in a western (useing the jayne cobb voice :D), the admirals, two different english accents, and I want to say Shala Raan is played by an irainian and so probably sounds irainian I'm not sure though, tali's dad sounds northern european, tali sounds eastern european.  Some quarians you walk past of here their audio files on the alarai sounds english and american.

So we know:
Ashley/Kaiden
Garrus
Tali
EDI
Prothean
Vega
Liara

The Mass Effect art book seems to imply that Jack is a squaddie.  Or at least she is the only returning ME2 squad member to get any attention in the ME3 section of the book.  Seems like some notable work was put into changing/evolving her look and giving her a role in the new galactic scene....plus she's shown in various actiony poses and holding a weapon.  Maybe they just liked the concept work and wanted it in the book but it seemed notable to me.....they give her as much attention as they do EDI or the Prothean or Vega, so I would not be at all surprised if she's a squad member in this game.  Some effort was put into giving her a new style of dress and growing out her hair and giving her this new backstory and position, etc.....if she were just a simple NPC cameo for a minute or two that would seem like a waste of manpower.

Also, there's an awful lot of talk about Wrex....would seem like an easy touch to have Wrex OR Grunt fill the Krogan role, leaving a blank space for those cruel players that killed all Krogans that ever served under them.  The amount that Wrex has been featured made me think he was a confirmed squad member.  Where is the source that says he is not?

All the other squad characters I don't really expect to come back.  Was kind of hoping for Thane but oh well.  I like having Tali and Liara and Garrus around again, and look forward to using EDI.

Honestly I really hate Ashley and Kaiden being squad mates. After the way they acted in ME2 towards Shepard I hope there is a way to NOT have them.

Jack is listed in the leaked script as the cameo/support character who appears specifically for the mission to Grissom Academy. I won't spoil exactly what she's doing at the home of the Ascension Program, as it's much funnier when you don't see it coming, but she's not a squadmate--part of a potential war asset for Renegade sheps, but not a squad recruit, unfortunately for Jack fans.

Well, major spoiler territory here, but:
Early on (during the mission to Mars), the VS is left behind on the Citadel because they were seriously injured during that mission, so they don't even join the squad full-time immediately. Then, later, the VS is tricked by a certain person into believing Kai Leng (the top Cerberus assassin from the novel Mass Effect: Retribution) is an Alliance intel guy and that Shepard is doing some unsavory things. If you fail to persuade the VS to trust you (with Kai Leng egging them on from the background, even), you have to kill them. Very Wrex-like.
So yes, there is a way not to have them on your squad, if you don't mind shooting them in the face. Mind you, I think a more satisfying answer would be to convince them that you were right and then get a chance to listen to their heartfelt apologies in the subsequent dialogue wheels. But maybe that's just because I'm not a homocidal psychopath, I dunno.

Ah. I see. Oh wow. I'm guessing this means if you cheated on them (well not really, they did dump you on Horizon but you you know what I mean) and that Kai Leng fool brings it up that might mean you HAVE to execute them? I'll call lame on that. They'd have no right at being so upset over Shepard getting nookie elsewhere.

I'm guessing that certain choices you may or may not have made during the course of the series may increase or decrease the Charm/Intimidate requirements or change up the dialogue required to convince the VS to trust Shepard, much as doing Wrex's armor-finding assignment made it easier to talk him down on Virmire.

OK... im just going to come out and say it. There is a way or multiple ways you can kill your squad mates yourself or in the course of your actions in events, get them killed as well. If by chance you killed Wrex in 1 youll still get his fill in from game 2 as a guest character. There are other guest Krogan as well. If you lost Garrus in 2, there is a chance to bring on a new Turian to fill his spot. There are missions where you may have up to a dozen potential squad choices but can only take so many and the rest become supporting character. Example... have Tali in you core group or in that mission a fleet is required and she can head the fleet as a support choice. IN one video on the main site, you do see both Jacob and Miranda so in some way they are both in (if they are alive from game 2 that is). There are also other supporting characters that will join in that we have not even seen yet. Also, he may not be a full time character but at some point you will be able to play as anderson in your group. They would not have given him a upgradable power/ability tree if not I dont believe.

They wanted to show Jack off in the book because they were proud of her new look. She;s defninitely not a squadmate though. Her role in the game has been well known for awhile, at least for those who follow the leaks.

bah...

they make up a new - and IMHO - very cool squad for ME2, then put you through doing all their loyalty missions (yeah it was fun - at least for most of them) and get all the ship upgrades in order to not have them die (which is the only thing i could do, really, i might not be a goody two shoes, but i can't abide killing people who adhere to you and trust you...so anyone who - even worse if done deliberately - is bad IMHO...as for doing it: i got the "everybody lived" on my first play through!) and now they "take them away"?

sorry, i do not get it (i hope this leak and the demo-files are a huge hoax or something....) - even more so because i would rather have my ME2 squad (an NO james vega) with the missing ME1 personal (ash or kaidan and liara) then a wanna be new one....not that i dislike garrus and tali (i like her - very much so in fact)....

greetings LAX
ps: as for that "leak" (which i do not believe fully in, because i think bioware is to professional for something like that to happen):

where can i read the full thing?...PM me if you know, ok? - Thank you :)
