She's awesome, better than most of the deadweight you are stuck with. Her backstabbing was incredibly powerful. I wish she had been a main squadmate instead of being stuck in DLC.

IMO, they could use a slight buff in damage. I don't mind the innacuracy, but they should be able to shred through enemies a little faster when used up close.

If you are attempting to gun someone down solely with an SMG, you're probably doing it wrong. SMG's and Pistols are meant to be complementary weapons to power heavy classes, and backup weapons for combat heavy classes.

I'd use SMG, if Avenger wasn't as good if not better at all ranges. She's the best.

No, I will just use Carnifex to one-headshot troopers. Why would you prefer Locust over Carnifex?

So is the massive recoil issues that people are talking about the fact that the SMGs tend to have large cones of fire when firing or that they move around a lot when firing?

So it's sort of a combination of 'bloom' ala Halo: Reach (ie the faster you fire some of the SMGs the worse their spread gets) and recoil/accuracy issues (some SMGs have some decent recoil - gun kicks back, etc.)
Burst firing works great, and up close, SMGs tear things up. They aren't meant for long-range combat, except for maybe the burst-fire SMGs like the Shuriken or a more accurate SMG like the Locust.
