So I just played two rounds with dudes who as soon as the match started ran off into a corner and parked it the entire match just so they could mine XP.  Love the multiplayer so far, but that kind of rudeness should not be rewarded.  Will any kind of feature be added to keep this from happening in the retail release?

Are you sure that was their intention? I had to do that before for a few rounds because I had to go get my food or pick up a phone call. I was using level 20s though so even then there was no XP to be gained.

A few rounds maybe but the very first thing these guys did was run into the corner and sit out the entire game. I am not unreasonable, sometimes you start a round of multiplayer and something happens and you have to take care of it. However I can easily see people abusing this unless there is a system in place to make sure people are not rewarded for sitting out an entire match.

no i had this too happen to me the  guy stayed in the same spot for 30 mins and only moved  before being disconnected since the xbox will shut down if you are inactive and post warning message that you will be disconnected  soon andthe guy was level 16...

Why start a MP game if you need to go eat lunch? I understand if something suddenly happens, but way too often people just sit there for most of the match, or they never vote to start the match.

indeed, although i am prone to do this as i am currently in a corner right now as i type this. one sec phantom... oh as i was aaying ya...i do it because its boring not to multitask, the surprise when i go back makes it even funner on silver, might try to find a competent gold team tommorrow...

edit**

boring was bad word choice on my part :/ i just enjoy taking a breather when my teams got it covered to well and there isn't enough action for me

Sometimes you order food and they give you an estimated delivery time.
Sometimes, the food comes a lot sooner than you expected.
In the meantime, you're playing wave 5 of a Gold match. :o

Back on topic, though;
OP, I know where you're coming from. I really don't know if there is an efficient way for BioWare to handle this. Players could get kicked because of inactivity, but I suppose there should be a reasonable time limit in such cases. A 3 minute phone call shouldn't get you kicked out, for example, whereas if you are away for 20 minutes of gameplay out of 23... different story altogether.

Never gone inactive on purpose. Sometimes, I'm late to the party, people get connected faster than me or I glitch into a wall and get stuck or the ever popular falling through the floor into space. Spaaaaace!

Oh, trust me, I have grown this habit of multi-tasking with my food as I play MP at this point. Chopsticks with one hand, grab a sushi piece, nom on it, quickly hold sticks with my teeth then back to the controller.

It's damn effective.
