Why random unlocks and not a simple store?

I guess it is the equivalent of random loot in a traditional RPG.
Replace the store with random drops from the enemies and nobody would think twice about it, they would be too busy killstealing and otherwise griefing eachother.

But it kind of fails since the unlockable content is so limited, so it is more about when you get what you want than what you will get next.

Imagine a Diablo like system where unlocks would have random bonuses, you would play forever to get that 50% reload spead to your sniper rifle, or or extra damage to Overload etc.

If we were able to buy what we want immediately we would get bored much faster, sure it would be a hell of a lot more fun at the start but it will lose its novelty quickly. You could say that people could try new classes or specs using different weapons and powers but, a lot of people myself included don't like deviating outside of our favorite class.

PS I did play the krogan soldier fer teh lulz of heavy meleeing everything in the map.

Not really.  I unlocked salarian infiltrator before hitting level 20 and have had more enjoyment out of that class than I have had with any of the other classes I've been trying out.  Grinding out to get that class would have been a lot less fun then playing the class I wanted and unlocking other things to try out.

What I was saying was more in regards to weapons, sorry I didn't specify that.

Regardless of if you agree with me or not any time you spent before getting your salarian infiltrator, was an increase to the multiplayer's longevity, you just happened to have gotten lucky enough to get it earlier than some.  I for one am very interested in the salarian infiltrator but I want to get the widow before I allocate his skills so I can see how much it's weight effects his cloak with and without weight adjustment powers.

Keep in mind this is only an example of what we'll find in the full game. There could easily be some sort of class specific packs for Infiltrators/etc that give much higher chances for things useful to that class, ie the Widow.

Also, why get so uptight over what you can/can't get in a demo? It's all gonna be deleted in just under 2 weeks anyways.

Theres actually significantly more weapons to unlock in the full version I can think of at least 4 sniper rifles that some one posted pictures of that were in the single player at least, and I don't see any reason for them not to be in the multiplayer.  Although I doubt we will get more ranks in the mods (they are already pretty over powered at rank 5) but there might be some wiggle room for different mods.  Things like reducing the reload animation for sniper rifles or the assault rifle having a chance to fire out 2 "bullets" per shot.

I already explained why a few posts ago.  Unless you were referring to the thread as a whole and not just me.

I was more referring to everyone complaining about this problem, to be honest. Everyone seems to think this is the final version of the game, and all the bugs/glitches in the demo will be in the final release.

BioWare has already stated that in the full game there's a reason you keep getting the character unlock packs even when you've got them all. And they've said that there will be more packs and things will be easier to unlock. So why waste time complaining on a forum when you could be playing the game and probably earning that weapon/character you want?

If there is an offical statement made on this topic I would love to have a link to it (not sarcasm).  As for people "complaining," they have a genuin concern for the system in which they have had misfortune with (even if it is just a demo) and would like to voice said concerns in an open discusion.

But good roleplay idea! Posted Image I also like to think that its loot or salvage from the battlefield!

I was thinking of one of Murphy's Laws of Combat: If you are short of everything but the enemy, you are in a combat zone.

What is that reason?

I haven't actually seen anything on them stating why we keep getting redundant character unlocks (ones that are level 20 and have all the customzations already).

They said there will be more items to unlock, they never said things will be easier to unlock.  They said there is roughly half the unlocks in the demo compared to release.  If anything that actually will decrease the chances of getting the one thing you want.  People have been talking about more focused unlock packs, ones that unlock class/races only or ones that unlock weapons only but has there been any dev to actually confirm this? I'm not doubting you, it would be welcome news, it's just I haven't seen anything actually supporting what you said.

My thoughts exactly, both on confirmation and for you defending the "complainers".  If we have bad luck now who's to say we won't have the same exact bad luck when the game comes out, that will really sour my experiance of the multiplayer.

I suspect that we won't find out till the release. Let's hope it's a good reason.

I don't think there is one because he never responded to us asking for a source.  I haven't seen anything on it either but that doesn't make it true/false.
