It was during my first semester in college i think, i had been drinking for the majority of the day and had been hanging out with  my neighbor/friend who brougt over Mass effect 1, it took me about 15 minutes to get hooked between the eerie music and the wierd sky in eden prime somehow it all complimented the buzz perfectly, ive played through mass effect 1, 9 times and mass effect 2 8 1/2 times now and i actually get a nestalgic feeling when i play mass effect 1 mildly intoxicated just gives me nestalgia of how mind blowing a talking main charector who you could make dialogue decisions for at the time truly was.

P.S. Conrad Verner will save the Galaxy.

Myself I heard in the internet a lot of praise for it's whole story and character development (Being story the most important thing for me in a game), so I gave the ME2 demo on the PS3 a try. I liked it, but it wasn't something special for what I was shown. A month ago more o' less I found ME2 cheap and gave it a try. Man what I loved that world and the characters. I regret not having a PC or a Xbox to play ME1 right now and I'm eagerly waiting for ME3 and the epic finale.

At first I was against it, simply because it was, at the time, an Xbox 360 exclusive. But I eventually broke down and bought a 360 simply so I could play it, as well as Jade Empire. Then both were ported to the PC. :pinched:
I repurchased JE, but instead of getting an PC version of ME, I decided to get ME2 when it came out. Then I changed my mind after learning more aboot what you could import, and bought a copy from Wal-Mart. I powered through 2 back-to-back play-throughs so I could have my perfect Shepard to import. Then I found out you could romance Tali, (I had romanced Liara), so I did another 2 playthroughs so I could have a perfect, single Shep for ME 2.

A few months ago, I found out that ME 2 save games that have been altered with an editor might not import into ME 3 correctly, so I deleted ALL my save games (I used Gibbed to rename a few of my characters and to add Legion to my party earlier). I decided to make a new Shepard in ME, and blazed through the game. I've spent the past few weeks getting the new Shep, along with new games with my 2 old Sheps, through the story. My Adept is done and awaiting import, my sentinel is on the long walk mission, and my vanguard is juat aboot to reactivate Legion. Thank Arceus that it's reading week at my university.

Waaaay more than you asked for, but I just wanted to share:P.

It all started when I was wee lad in 8th grade. The game looked awesome, and the next time we went to Costco, I bought a copy. It was probably one of the greatest gaming experiences I ever had, and I've been hooked on the series ever since.

Bought ME2 (with a bunch of DLC) during a big Steam sale back in '10. Immediately bought ME1 the next time it was on sale. Relishing the release of ME3.

Mass effect was the deciding factor on whether I get a 360 or a PS3... Got the 360 and mass effect right away

I got ME in 2007, on xbox when it first came out, played it over break and just could not believe bioware out did KotOR. I was glad I could find a franchise that wasn't Star Wars, but was still just as awesome if not more. I loved ME2, and its looking like I'm going to be IN love with ME3. The conclusion to the trilogy will be emotional, but its just the beginning. I think we all know this.

Hated...HATED ME1. As soon as I landed on EP, I quit. Hated it! Soooooo boring!

ME2 comes out, brother convinced me it was awesome. I didn't want to touch ME2 without a save file from ME1. So I played ME1 from start to finish (more than once.) LOVED IT. Hated my characters face.
Played ME2. Didn't know I could fix my face. Beat ME2 as an ugly Shepard.

I want Warren Shepard to be "better-looking" for ME3:

I had been playing KotOR for months so when ME came out I decided to give it a try just because BioWare was behind it. Considering I wasn't really into videogames back then, it was something.

just bought a xbox 360 from my a friend and only had Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors Gundam. Played the hell out of them and wanted to play something new. Went to blockbuster and saw Mass Effect on the shelf. saw that it was a SciFi RPG (still rare in this day) and decided to rent it and Bullet Witch. Popped in ME...played it for 4 days....had to pay a late charge cuz back then it was still a 3 day rental. Didnt get much sleep those nights. Returned it and that same day got a new copy. I didnt know until after that it was made by the same people that made Baldur's Gate (this and Shogun Total War kept me SANE while on float) and SW KotOR (the first game i ever preordered..and first game i purchased after getting out of the Marine Corps).

Bought ME2 first cannot remember why I had the sudden impulse to do so, but I did.  I think I got to the Horizon mission by the time I figured I should just buy ME1 and start from there.... ended up getting both games in the same day on the Xbox.  Best money ever spent for that console lol.

Think maybe a year later I decided to get them on my PC and totally neglected my console version from then on, PC controls were just way too superior for me to go back lol.

I was a big KOTOR, Jade Empire, Neverwinter, and Baldur's Gate fan, so the instant I heard Bioware was making a new game I got excited. The first trailers for ME1 came out around E3 2006 I think. It was the trailer with the pre Sheploo male Shepard. When I saw this trailer I was instantly excited, and I preordered the game shortly there after. I remember beating the game for the first time the day before a mid term, and I was grateful as hell because I couldn't study for the test until I beat the game.

I was reading some forum discussion about silent vs. voiced protagonists, and they kept bringing up Mass Effect. Intrigued, I went to the store and picked up both games.

I quite enjoyed this post, it made me laugh.

I enjoyed kotor and in the fall of 2010, I was looking for something new to play.  ME1 was super cheap on the ea store, so I got it and was hooked with the opening blurb about the mass effect discovery.  Then a couple of months later I was the one who found ME3 on the ea store before it was announced- my claim to ME fame B)

it was 2008 and I was bored so i went to Gamestop and started talking to the chick behind the counter. Mentioned I was wanting a good space Sci fi game and she suggested ME1. I played it from about 5:00 pm until 7am the next day. It instantly sidelined Star Wars as my favorite Sci Fi universe.

Was looking at videos of Casey Hudson explaining what it ME was. Then I saw that it was Xbox exclusive so I got pissed and didn't care much about it. WHen the PC version was released I tried it at my cousin's place. The exploration appealed to me. Seeing other planets and driving around (Yes I never complained about the Mako). Then I read the codex how the Alliance was formed there I was hooked.

Picked ME1 cheap at Blockbuster when I first got my 360. No research, just, "This looks pretty cool." I had no idea.

I was in a clan when ME2 released, and had seen commercials for it. I was never really big into science fiction, was more of a shooter player I guess. Anyways...a couple guys in the clan did nothing but talk about how awesome the ME series was. "You HAVE to try it dude" was all they would tell me about it. I ended up picking up ME2 and fell in love. I bought Mass Effect 1 shortly after and pretty much stopped playing shooters altogether and then I got into the Dragon Age series as well.

I've been following Biowares PC releases since Neverwinter Nights and KOTOR. I was really bummed when Mass Effect came out as an X-Box exclusive. When it was announced for the PC I went out to get it. I was in love from the opening sequence on.

Found it sitting on a gamestore shelf back in 2007 and thought I'd take the risk of trying a new game.

Funny thing is, I was never actually interested in the Mass Effect series or any single player games (went off the grid for video games after the PS2 was phased out) until I discovered a wonderful thing called Steam. Steam first appealed to me with their amazing sales like Bioshock 1 and 2 for about 10 bucks in total. Afterwards, ME1 and ME2 went up on sale for about $10 bucks (for both I think?) and needless to say I've been hooked ever since. After hundreds of hours spent playing the games (and reading the books), I am now anxiously waiting for my pre-ordered collector's edition of ME3.

I have always been a science fiction fan and I especially love to play such games on the PC. I saw the trailer for Mass Effect and had to have the game. Once I played it, I was hooked and I have been a fan ever since.
