I think a more interesting question for me is "How I became interested in ME?" which dates back to a Game Informer article I remember reading about it and It reminded me of another game, published by Majesco for the Xbox called Advent Rising. Advent Rising was supposed to be a trilogy as well however it was panned, the game was far from perfect, and I believe Majesco folded. So I thought I'd try the whole brand new IP with planned trilogy thing one more time.
How did it all start for you?

I picked up SWKOTOR the year it came out. I fell in love with the story and charactars but when
Mass Effect was 1st coming out i was like meh but when i saw that the main character could speak and that it was
made by Bioware I decieded to give it a shot. I got it as a christmas gift in 2007 I played it and OMG I fell in love with it.
Everthing from the lore to finding out that soverign was a reapers I just could but the game down. Ever since then I
became a mass effect fan and could wait for the next installment. I liked ME 2 but it was nothing compared to Mass
effect and now with ME 3 11 days away i cant wait to conclude this epic trilogy.

I got both games super cheap on steam, along with dragon age origins. Never played them for ages and then was bored enough to give it a go. Became besotted with it.
My computer doesnt run games very well though so I purchased ME2 for PS3.

I started with Mass Effect 1 of course.
I had seen a few pics here and there, then a friend of mine with a 360 kept telling me to watch videos and stuff and how this would be a great game.
I was like "it's not coming to the PC -my last console was a SNES- so why should I care?" :/
Then it arrived on the PC. And then I got hooked.

Read a little blurb in EGM about bioware making a squad shooter/rpg set in sci fi universe called Mass Effect. I started following its progress up until release and it lived up to all my expectations.

Bought the first game and loved it's customization options. And then loved the story. And when ME2 came out, I loved the gameplay too.

About a year or so before ME1 release I was searching Gamespot for Kotor 3 related news. The site recommended an article on Bioware's new IP slated to come out sometime next year.
They made a really big deal about how this was going to be an interactive story with a grand scale of exploration etc. So I made a mental note to keep an eye on that game in the future.
Rented the game on the release day. Loved it. Bought it. The rest is history.

when I bought my xbox I also decided to buy 2 games, the selection was pretty bad in the store so first I grabbed GTA4 as soon as I saw it, then I looked abit longer for the 2nd game and noticed the Bioware stamp on the ME covers, tought I really liked KOTOR and this game is on sale for pretty cheap price, I was allready hooked when I was exploring the Citadel for the first time

I have played each Bioware game for the PC since Baldurs Gate. Although not completely impressed with ME1 gameplay, ME2 blew me away.

I'd played Baldur's Gate, KOTOR, and DA:O. And then I hit a place where I was between games and looking for something to play.ME2 was just about to come out and a friend of mine was really excited. She recommended I try it so I got ME1 off of Steam..
And the rest is history. I got immediately hooked, beat the game just in time to pick up ME2 on release date. Now I've preordered my CE and am counting down the days til the 6th!

I had played and loved BioWare games from BG to KotOR1, where I somehow just ended up doing other things for a while even though I loved those games to bits. A friend of mine was hyping some new shooter from BioWare called Mass Effect when he was trying to get me to buy a 360. While I thought the BioWare label was worth something in itself, I immediately wrote the game off as another shooter with a bland marine as the main character when he showed me videos.
A few years later I had picked up a 360 for other reasons and was sitting around trying to find something to play after Devil May Cry 4. Ended up giving ME1 a chance through Microsoft's Games on Demand service just cause of the BioWare label. Three copies of ME1, three copies of ME2 and one or two copies of ME3 later (I still haven't decided!) and I'd say they've made some profit off their name alone, here =)

Played a bit of ME1 when it was new at an internet cafe, honestly, thought 'meh' (mainly because of that cutscene before you enter the digsite to rescue liara). Saw the promo stuff for ME2, got interested, bought ME1 for continuity's sake. Punched myself in the face for that 'meh'.

Read articles about ME1 before it came out. Seemed cool, so I bought it when it released, and have loved the series to this very day. I love KOTOR, too, so that might of had an impact as well.
After ME1&2, I decided to try out DA:O. The game was great, DA2 was okay, but KOTOR and Mass Effect are my favorite games developed by BioWare. They're also on my all-time list of favorite video games.

House-sat to look after a friend's cats for a week, and before he left he handed me the xbox controller and said I should play Dragon Age Origins because it was awesome. Got totally addicted over those few days, bought it on PC for myself, then when I was finished I figured I'd have a bit of a look at this other Bioware Mass Effect thing that was around, even though I just thought it was a shooter and I sucked at them. So next Steam sale, I bought Mass Effect 1 & 2, and the rest is history.
I feel really lucky having played all those games without knowing anything about them and having not followed the forums, they were all 100% spoiler free
But now I am a huge fan, I inadvertently spoil future games by lurking here too much
(NB: I did play KotOR when it came out, and loved it like crazy, but for some reason I didn't bother following any Bioware gaming news after that and fell out of the loop)

Visiting my best friend, who was also my neighbor at the time (he got me the place I used to live then). So naturally, I came over a lot and we'd share food and drink. One time, food on the stove, he was sitting at his PC, saying something along the lines of: "OK, I know you, you're going to LOVE this."
And so he got me to start my first Shep in ME1. The rest is history.

I remember reading the comments and previews from the 2006 E3. I was a huge fan of KotOR (I think I finished it at least a dozen times), but I didn't have an xbox at the time :/
When ME was released I convinced a friend of mine to buy it. I pretty much monopolized his xbox for the next week... I'm glad I did it, Mass Effect is probably my favourite game ever (KotOR2 is pretty close though)

It was my last year of university. Two years prior to that, I was introduced to Deus Ex (yes, I was late), and was looking forward to playing a single video game during my last year. I heard about Mass Effect, which I thought was just another UE3 game on the XBOX360. I was interested since I was a fan of sci-fi, and was astonished at its positive reviews. When it came out on PC, I thought I'd give it a spin. I LOVED the game. I never enjoyed a game like this since the Deus Ex series because of its immense, smart dialogue.
I thought ME2 was going to be more of the same, but I was surprised to see the additions, and it felt fresh. I admit, I stayed hooked. Now, ME3 will be the icing on the cake (hopefully)...

I remember when the ME1 demo came out, I was still big on JRPGs and my friend showed it to me, I didn't even pay much attention to the demo, but the part with Shepard and the beacon peaked my interest, I've always been a sucker for sci-fi so the game must have remained in my mind in a subconscious level or something, because one day without any special reason or motivation (mind you I was barely even able to look at any WRPG with a straight face at the time) lo and behold I was buying this game in my usual retailer. Suffice to say not only is ME one of my top 3 franchises today but also helped me broaden my narrow minded prejudice about many things gaming and I love it.

I bought it for my husband, thinking 'another shooter' quite a while after it first came out. Was going cheap on amazon...
Got it and installed it, thought to have a sneaky look first. Found out I could make FEMSHEP and that was it...Wasn't even aware you could play a female character, most games I'd seen where 'male' only and am not fond of those sort.
Well it hooked me, got ME2 and now waiting for my CE edition to turned up. (ordered July last year) Can't wait.
Don't think my hubby as actually played through either of them...

Watched my friend playing ME2 on his PC. Bought it myself the next day. After completing it I joined Steam and bought ME1. Replayed them so many times.
I was "hooked" :innocent:
