...My roommate and I were browsing DA2 leaks/videos on YouTube shortly before/after its release. In the "Related Videos" section were some ME romance scene vids and we decided "eh, why the hell not?" and watched them. That led to us watching various other vids - gameplay, funny things, major story points, things like that - from the series. We were hooked.

My roommate even bought an Xbox just for the Mass Effect series just to play both games.

I had gift card money to burn and I'd been seeing ME2 adds. I initially dismissed it as some space-shooter with funky looking aliens, but then I read a review on it that explained that it was an action based RPG and mentioned the Paragon/Renegade system and compared it to KOTOR. I was sold! Shortly thereafter, I was addicted! LOL

I'll never forget it,for me I read an article in Xbox magazine, it had some screen shots and a lot of concept art or Noveria. This was before the game came out and in that article i read that it was going to be a trilogy from the get go. being a Sci-fi fan i made it a point to keep tabs on the game. bought it day one and have been hooked ever since.

I saw it in advertisments and I'll admit having it (ME1) highly-touted drew me in, but then I started playing and saw why. And being the "franchise-serial" player I am, I had to get ME2 (not that it didn't have its incentives. lol) For that same reasoning, I will get ME3.

The story is excellent while the gameplay is pretty good, too! Btw, I own my share of TPSs, too!

Actually, I got my brother hooked on it. He's played both and I'm confident, he'll get the third one as well

I bought the first Mass Effect on release, played about 3 hours of it and hated it, so I sold it. About 10 months later I had the urge to try it again so I did, and for some reason, no idea why, I absolutely loved it. I completed it and immediately created a new character to try the other choices.

I first saw ME 1 when the first gameplay trailer came out, wasn't that interested.
after a year when the whole concept of the game changed, I stumbled across the game while searching across youtube.

They were showing the second mission which takes place on the Citadel, where you have to take down Fist. It was showing everything you can do with ME , after that Mass Effect became like crack to me.

I saw Mass Effect 1 in a bargain bin for like ten bucks at a Blockbuster. Decided to try it out even though I thought I could only be the default BroShep.

Once I found out about the character creator, Jennifer Hale's amazing VA and awesome story then I was immediatley hooked.

Jade Empire and DA:O will always be two of my favorite games. I figured I couldn't go wrong with the ME Series. Picked up ME2, played for about an hour. Loved the game but was a little confused on what was going on. Picked up ME1.... now I'm counting the minutes til ME3 is here.

Saw a lot of hype for ME2 on IGN. Never knew much about the series before that. I decided to try it out cause I love sci-fi.

I'm so glad I got ME1 first. I always start with the first game no matter what series it is. Fell in love ME1 when I got to Virmire. Immediately got ME2 when I finished playing.

ME1 was my first BioWare game.

Me being a huge fan of science fiction shows/movies like Star Trek, Star Wars found the videos, screen captures of Mass Effect 1 to be just as interesting as Star Trek/Star Wars and a game that I would enjoy playing. I had a PS3 and instead of waiting and seeing if Bioware would release Mass Effect 1 on the PS3, I purchased an XBox 360 along with Mass Effect 1 and played through it all night as soon as I got it home.

When Mass Effect 2 came out, I preordered it as soon as it was announced and the same goes for Mass Effect 3.

It's actually a tad concerning how many people started at ME2 as apposed to ME1. ._.

I started out as a Dragon Age; Origins fan girl, and had been told that I would love Mass effect if I loved Dragon Age. I bought a copy of PC Mass Effect 1 for $10 and became hooked. The ironic thing is, a week after I had bought a copy of Mass Effect 2, Bioware announced that they would give free copies of Mass Effect 2 to anyone who had bought Dragon Age 2 .....

My son turned me on to the whole Xbox game playing thing with the Dragons' Age. I used to see him playing for hours and would ask, how can you sit and do that for so long? He told me try it and see. So I did. Rat. He created a monster. After DA he suggested ME1, which I loved and played and played and played, then I moved on to ME2, which I played and played and played. Now I went so far as to buy the CE for ME3. Played other games but keep going back to ME. Totally hooked.

So It was the year 2007 and I went to a game store full of money to buy Gears of War. The store didn't have the game so I was furious, I didn't wanna leave empty handed so I decided to buy a random game. I started looking around and Mass Effect caught my eye for the reason that it had the word ASS in it's name and because it looked cool. I had no idea what kind of game it was I just picked it up and it ended up being my favorite game of all time.

January 2012. I went to a shop and had 30 euros with me with the plan to buy a game. I just saw that epic cover of Mass Effect 2 and Fable 3.
So I had to decide : I took Mass Effect 2. Played it and was absolutely blown away. Just one week after my first playtrough I bought ME1 and started a whole new complete playtrough with a new character (ME1+ME2) now.
And I was surprised that there were really changes concerning some elements of the story / cameos. Then I bought most of the story DLC (except Overlord) for ME2 (fav. LotSB). Now I'm waiting for ME3 and pre ordered the CE :D So I'm new to this whole BSN thing and Mass Effect in general. But I don't regret buying or playing it. Fell in love with this franchise =]

I was talked into playing KOTOR 1 and I looked for other games done by Bioware and found Mass Effect, thought it looked neat and picked it up for the 360 at gamestop for about 15 bucks.

Another digital copy, a sequel, two ship models, lithographs and many hours later, I pre-ordered the ME3 CE.

Slippery slope with the fact I'm probably going to buy the Play-Arts Kai Garrus/Ashley.

I was at the Big M and my tester friend was playing this game. I watched the Consort slow-mo walk with her sexy booty away from his femshep.

"What's that?!?"

"Can't tell you."

"Is that Mass Effect?"

"No."

"Can I play?"

"No."

"Dude, throw me a bone. Who's the blue alien chick?"

"You get to have sex with her."

"I hate you."

"My day is this awesome."

I'd heard some friends in college a few years back telling me about how fun the first game was.  Not having any money, I couldn't get a 360, so I forgot about it for a few years.  Even if I did, the whole RROD thing was a deterrent for me.

Fast-forward to July 2010.  I finally was able to afford one, and it was the new Slim model.  I vaguely remembered my friends' recommendation, and was happy to see a 2nd game had come out.  So I ordered both.

And I've been hooked ever since.

I was at a friends house back before the whole "shepards KIA" thing was announced. I saw a game on his shelf and i asked him about it. he told me it was a pretty good game and i should try it. i had nothing better to do at the time so i gave it a spin. instantly became my favorite game.

however it saddened me that it was over and i thought it had been out for awhile and i had heard nothing of a sequel so i thought it was the end. Then one day at school i was talking about how awesome the game was and how i wish there were more my friend told me that the game was going to be a trilogy. That same day i go home and the Shepard KIA teaser had been released. Been following teh franchise ever since

Fell in love with Ashley, a beutiful autumn morning, november 2007. Got married. Friend esterified with Miranda. Continued the story, and waited for all the games in a raw ,, with excitement.. Damn how worried i am right now, third time lucky? or "happy ending"...?

EDIT.

Yeah, it was a joke.. just change Ashleys name to ME1, and Miranda to ME2.. and in ME 3 i dont want an "happy ending" but one thing, a happy ending.

I saw that Mass Effect was on demand on xbox. So I thought, "this game must be popular to be one of the first games on demand" checked out some reviews, it looked fun, but a little weird (I am not used to my RPG character having a voice back then). I bought the game for my birthday and played it. At first it was kind of weird. The combat was kind of poor, graphics not so good, and my Shepard looked like a monkey. When I got to the Citadel it got really boring, but the game started getting pretty exciting once I got the ability to wonder the galaxy.

I did the mission to save Liara and I thought that this was the best game ever. I loved it so much. I played through the story and stopped at Ilum because I didn't want to end such an amazing game. Months later, I forgot about Mass Effect. Then when I saw a video of Mass Effect 2 (the one that shows Shepard armor all torn up and then it shows Legion) I was excited and forgot I didn't complete the first Mass Effect. So I completed it, very good ending and now I am here and one big RPG fan and Bioware fan. (Oblivion was my first official RPG anyway)

A couple of weeks or so (I don't really remember when) after the game came out a friend and I rented it and played it for a while. We both liked it and I ended up getting it for christmas. But for whatever reason I really didn't enjoy it. About a year or so later I picked it up used and fell in love with it. It was and probably still is my favorite sci-fi story. Since then I have bought it on PC after upgrading. Bought ME2 on Xbox 360 when it came out, then bought ME2 again for PC. I've spent a lot of money on this series! lol

I walked into a Best Buy in January of 2008 with a $100 Gift Card I got from my Aunt for Christmas. Picked up Mass Effect and the Guide book and was immediately hooked. In fact the game I got on the same day (Assassin's Creed) I didn't play much until months later...
