Was amazed (the saving Joker scene alone...). I saw a new chapter in game history.
Went out and got ME1 then played ME2.
(ME2 didn't really have the a sea-worthy plot [full of holes], but it was still fun, and certainly a link in the evolution of games if not a shining example.)

DA2 didn't even remotely meet my expectations and it left me frustrated and angry, looking for another game to wash away the bad taste two BSN friends suggested me to try Mass Effect 2.
I wasn't a Sci-Fi fan but I gave it a try anyway, just to try out something new and see why fans are so crazy about this game. Totally loved it, got pretty much all the DLC for it and made about 4 playthroughs.
Now I can't wait to continue the sci-fi saga!

I remember being there when they announced the game back in 2005 or 2006, and seeing the trailer and presentation. When I tried the game for the first time, I never really ever got into combat, so I assumed that the gameplay was still a lot like that, that Shepard was racist, Garrus was a jerk and Ashley had that horrible voice, and was sort of racist, too. I also didn't like how the environments looked in that first presentation of the game, but to my surprise, it was NOTHING like the original reveal, when I finally decided to commit to playing the entire game 2 years later, which is good.

So, yeah, once I played it I was hooked. It's been 5 years. That's quite a long time to be attached to these characters. Garrus, Wrex, Liara...ME3's going to be at least somewhat emotionally impacting, that's for sure.

After playing through the game a couple times I heard a new one was coming out....

This turned into getting ME2 on release day, and then pre ordering the CE for ME3. Its unfortunate that Bioware was acquired by EA though, ME3 will likely be the last Bioware title I purchase.

I only got to play the first few hours, then I could never get near the console; but I loved what I'd seen. When I got divorced in 2009, I moved back in with my parents, updated my PC hardware, then heard about ME2 and grabbed ME1 for PC. Been addicted ever since.

He couldn't because it was a steam copy and so ME1 sat in my uninstalled games file until about a month ago when he went away for fortnight's business trip and I got so bored in the evenings without anyone to chat to that I thought I'd give it a go.
Since then I've played ME1, ME2 (which I had to buy because I never bothered redeeming the get ME2 free deal when I bought DA2!), bought every available piece of DLC, pre-ordered the ME3 DDCE, played the demo and endlessly lurked on the forums. My washing pile has taken over the spare room and my husband says I haven't spoken to him for longer than 5 minutes since I started the damn game!
So I'm officially hooked and I guess I did want to be a spaceman after all!

Well, my Hubby bought ME1 for me after I started playing DAO and couldn't get enough of it and I said 'Oh, thanks Babe but action RPG's aren't for me and I really don't want to be a spaceman - can you take it back to the shop and get a refund?'![]()

Deep down all good people want to be spacemen.
("Spacepeople" doesn't quite have the right ring to it does it, can we declare "spaceman" gender neutral?)

Well since I think 'Spacebarbie' definately belongs to Miranda and 'Spacegirl' sounds like a bad 70's comicstrip, Fem Shepherd can be officially be a (gender neutral) 'spaceman'.
