Image IPB So true... maxed out adrenaline rush and weapons damage + Widow Maker = exploding heads, so much fun. And then people complain I'm stealing kills, well if I can one hit kill, it's not stealing it's efficiency.

I do admit that sometimes when I see low levels <10, I think they're just there to idle and be carried.

I genuinely don't think anyone would want to be carried, I mean whats the point of that on a demo? I actually believe their thinking "What is going on here", not everyone can just pick up and play, it takes time for some people - but hey maybe thats just me

Scores, stealing kills, experience points and leader boards seem to be the most important aspects of MP from reading the threads on this forum !

I genuinely feel sorry for the new people come launch day

I guess I dont understand, are you suggesting level one players should play gold right away?

No, I'm suggesting that they don't actually realise that Gold is allot harder, and most likely went to a quick match and don't even realise its on Gold

I don't think anyone would go onto gold and get continuously slaughtered for the sake of some XP points on a demo.

If they dont have a mic you cant explain this to them, and you have no option but to vote them out. i dont want to type out a message every minute

If your on xbox they can still hear you through the tv - they dont need to have a mic

That is marginal at best on xbox, anyway I've never seen a level one do well on silver or gold

on topic: i did an experiment last night, i equipped the viper on my infiltrator and attempted to join 10 games.

4 of the game everyone dropped out
3 of the games i got messages and yapped at over xbl to use the mantis, i said no then the lobby emptied.
1 game was bronze with low lvls, and 1 high lvl he told me tht i was gonna get use wiped then quit.
2 games actually played with a full lobby

Dang I almost never even check other people's equipment. When I do it's only because I'm bored waiting for someone to push ready, and I've never even considered quitting over it or even telling someone to change.

That's ridiculous to quit b/c of a weapon choice. Viper can be super deadly if you quick scope and you dont have to reload every shot.

BUT still this is a free game and anyone should be able to try out every mode.

And they can. But they should not expect other players to make up for their impatience/overconfidence.

I have yet to be "victimized" by an underleveled character causing a Silver wipe, but I would feel quite nervous about them as well. I've certainly seen enough people struggle with the challenge even on higher level characters - granted, in these cases it's almost always a matter of teamwork, but abilities and bonus stats help you stay alive that much longer.

On Bronze, everything is fair game and I wouldn't mind 1/1 players at all. If anything, I only try even harder because I want to show off and appear awesome to someone new to the game. :D

I also don't care what class someone plays. Vanguards just seem to be very "hit and miss" - some play them awesome, others die all the time 1 km away from the rest of the team, essentially making you play the map as a 3-man group. My first  character was a Vanguard as well and I never noticed anyone leaving because of me, but then again I've never played her on anything above Bronze so maybe it is different there. Or it's just individual perception.

Why is that everytime you write something i have to quote you because i'd write the same?

I don't know if it's snobbery or what not, but you cannot interpret people's actions based on 2 sec worth of time. I don't know what it is with BW's create a public match thingie.. but I never have anyone from the public join it.

On two separate platforms (360 and PC) I've created public games only to have no one fill them. I've been trying to play with my friends, but it's only been 1 at a time. So for 2 of us to get into a game and rock out having some fun.. is almost impossible. Sure, we could duo some stuff, but it's more fun to have a full squad of 4.

So what's the strat? You hit quick match, hope to enter a lobby with only 3 players and invite your friend in. The whole night, I just spent joining matches only to take a fast exit until I found one with only 3 players.

Marshalleck has it right too, although it's not too bad now, but at the beginning most new people to the demo didn't see the "pull right trigger" or "hit space bar" to show you're ready. When playing solo at the release of the demo, I did this too.

It's not snobbery, it's just people want to play, and sometimes we want to play with our friends. However the tools are not all there, and can you really blame BW? It's a freakin' demo. I'm just making the best of a good situation. Hopefully release will be awesome.

Looking forward to ME3.

This.

I apologize to folks I've entered a lobby with 4 people and bailed.  I'm looking to bring a friend along. It not personal at all, I don't even look at the rankings or the classes.  I see 4 slots filled and I bail.  Personally I don't care about rank, number of kills, stats, etc. I just want to have fun.  But reverse snobbery is present too.  I sometimes play with lvl 20 characters on bronze and low level people bail. I actually like working with low lvl classes so I can demonstrate what their character can do when they're lvled up.

I've encountered very little snobbery, mostly in game anger reserved for people failing on silver or people playing vanguard on the other side of the map, and rarer still people who play outside the circle on hacking missions or being on the other side of the map and costing us our full extraction bonus (which I myself am sort of guilty of).

If they want to leave the lobby because of low level players then that's their right, you don't have to agree to their decision but they have that choice and if they want to leave to find higher level players then nothing is holding them back. It's happened to me plenty of times, not just in this demo either, and it's just something you have to accept. Keep searching and you'll get into a group is all I can really say.

That said a level bracket search system might possibly improve things in this case.

Lately I started playing with my female human Vanguard and in 8/10 lobbies I join at least one person quits. I'm guessing it's because I'm a low level and or a Vanguard because most of the other players are high level Adpets, Engineers etc.

What's worse is I'm only playing Bronze challenges. I'm a very careful player. In my last four games I went down only twice, but had to revive quite a few other players.

Is this what's to come of the full game? Snobs in every lobby just looking for other high level players of the classes they deem are worthy?

Feel free to friend me ... My GT is Kutchek and while I'm not even close to an Elite player but:

-- I have a MIC
-- I try not to MIC-spam much but will tell you if I'm running off to look for a Phantom spawn or similar
-- I am happy doing the "dirty work" ... I'll guard a flank / take out "goons" while you do the real work, whatever
-- I'm happy working as a team and backing folks up when needed.

The only things that I don't care for much are:

-- Folks that spend 5 minutes in the gaming lobby and never go to "ready"  [Not courteous to other players]
-- Folks that don't play as a team when it's important to stay together [esp the latter waves on any difficulty level]
-- Folks that won't listen ... I.E. I was begging our team sniper a few days ago to get to the drop zone and gave 30 second, 15 second, 10 second warnings the first game or two but they we too busy sniping folks on the other side of the map so we didn't get the full extraction bonus on ANY of the 4 games in a row we succeeded on.

Yep. I've played matches trying to level up an infiltrator, a class I'm not very good with, and after 5 or 6 waves everyone drops out. It's happened twice where I end up in the lobby alone. Not fun. ME is the first multi-player I've done. I never get a high score but I don't really care, I enjoy playing. It is to the point though where I'll warn people I'm new to multi-player and someone will drop out. Catch 22, I can't get any experience if no one will play with me.

More often than not though, I'll find a great group and we can go 3 or 4 matches before someone has to leave. I'm really liking multi-player.

Eh, I drop lobbies for several reasons, but it's very very rarely due to the actual people in it. I'll drop if:

1.) I'm looking for a silver match and it's not a full room (I have no problem with waiting, but experience has informed me that while I wait patiently everyone ELSE will just drop, so I might as well save the time).

2.) I'm looking for a game that ISN'T full so that I can invite a friend in with me.

3.) The class I'm looking to play is already over saturated. Sometimes I'm specifically looking to try out certain classes. If I'm not though I'll usually just change to something a little less saturated.

I never drop from a game unless the host quits and the wave takes too long to reload, or if my internet cuts out for whatever reason. (Cut out on me during wave 10 of silver last night...groaned audibly. First time that had ever happened to me).

Once I start a game, I intend to finish it, even if it's finishing with a troopers boot in my face.

Were they kicking you to make room for a friend????   I don't know why they wouldn't make a private game but sometimes you never know.

I do that myself to be honest (i.e. leave a lobby with 2 or more low level players); mostly because low level players (<5) tend to rage quit the first time they are downed - If I wanted to play by myself then I wouldn't be using the matchmaking system.
Edit: Further, I don't much like Vanguards - their charges tend scare Nemeses when I just need them to stay still for a sec to line up kill shot, or result in them dead with an army between them and any team mate able to revive.

For folks that like to play casually I'd recommend finding a group [large?] of similarly minded people and friend them.   Then it should be easy [easier?] to find an enjoyable game.

BTW:  I'm not a newb but I play like one :) ... Feel free to look for "Kutchek" and I'll wipe out some Cerb. agents with you.

I don't leave silver and gold lobbies because I'm a snobby lazy douche who doesn't want to carry anyone, I leave because I'm a mediocre player and know that if someone's a low level I don't have the ability to pick up the slack, I have zero situational awareness and usually die because I didn't notice the enemies coming up behind me, thankfully the fact that I usually play asari adept hides the fact that I'm a bad player :)

Also I refuse to play gold without there being an infiltrator.

Ditto haha

FYI: I will only drop from a lobby is someone or the group isn't fun to be with. Usually that boils down to:

-- Characters that sit in the lobby for more than 3 minutes and simply won't go to ready
-- Teams that don't play as a team and aren't good enough to "hold their own" [and refuse to team up properly]
-- There aren't enough people / classes / skills / whatever to actually succeed [usually means 2 people on Bronze, 3 low or mid level on silver, etc.]

I feel bad quitting lobbies that often. But my friend and me are trying to find a lobby with 2 people so one of us can join / or even get lucky and join the same lobby. So I have to quit. And i think some low rank-people think that people quit because of them but I think I'm not the only one that wishes a pre-lobby to group a party and go for a quick match with strangers in the full game.

Down with the snobs!

I play a lot of bronze matches, because I am only N7 ranked in the mid to high 70's. My luck at the veteran packs from the store has been less than satisfactory - good weapons are really hard to come by. So, I make due with what I have, but I don't feel overpowred unless I am on my Krogan Soldier or my Salarian Infiltrator, or my Human Vanguard. As you guys can tell, your N7 rating comes from your characters (up to level 20 per class), all added together, minus one point per character class. Ergo, my level 20's feel pretty good to me because I have more familiarity with them.

With that being said, a high N7 rank is more a case of "I have been in your position and know how to back you up". Every class has some weakness issues - and every successful team should stick by one major theme - work together. If I had my promotional flick to add in here I would. "For we are the N7, we have fought together across the Attican Traverrse, through the Terminus Systems ......."

MP is about.... guess what?! Teamwork! Who would have thought of that? Amazing. Sure - I can solo Bronze on my infiltrator. But, thats not really a deed or story to be sung, now is it? I'll help anyone I can in MP, even if that means fighting 2 phantoms and 2 turrets at once. We live and fight together or we die together.

Now, one last thing that I have noticed in MP - and this is my only grump, really - is the lack of people using a microphone. Go out to Best Buy or online to Newegg - where ever you shop, and get your cheap stingy butt a darn microphone. Learn how to use it. Even if you are shy, call stuff out. You can even have a one word at a time vocabulary. Use words like: Phantom, Turret, Atlas, Help - etc. Personally, I don't mind setting up a plan - you two together, us two over here - or I will go save so and so, you stay in the circle for the downoad...... When I do have the pleasure of getting into a really good silver or gold team, I have found that they communicate - and really well. The best teams know each other - they think alike - they do this stuff a lot and its really fun to run with them. Actually, they were a 4 man team but one of them was washing his dog or something, so they 3 manned it and I got to fill a slot. Sure, I came in dead last, but I had a blast.

I look forward to sharing that fun with other players - level ones or not. We've all been there as a level 1, with an N7 rank of 1. Its just numbers.

What a refreshing attitude..one that I also share. Im over 100 but I like to play with anyone willing. Its a good feeling to help some who is a lower level get better by showing them the ropes. We were all level 1 once and will be again in 2 weeks so lets stop this snobbery bs and have fun with the game. Even the weakest on the team can provide support, just give them a chance.
