Claymore...

I tried it on my Vanguard and it was so much worst than a Katana. The insane weight gave my Biotic Charge a rediculous recharge time. The super slow reload rate wouldn't let me kill fast enough and therefore dies because of the focus fire, not tanky as a sentinel or krogran, as well as being unable to cast another biotic charge for a shield recharge. Also, Vanguards uses their powers a lot so the Claymore just doubled their recharge speed so that sucks a lot.
I'm just terribly surprised that the best shotgun in the game does not fit that well with a Vanguard which are considered the best shotgun user class in the game. Instead, it fits the Sentinel extremely well because it's not as power reliant as the Vanguard. A Sentinel with a claymore is essentially a walking powerhouse, able to withstand a lot of damage and dealing slow but very large amount of damage.

It's a Krogan shotgun - of course it is heavy, what did you expect?
So it's super heavy, has only one shot per clip and slow reload time. That's a bit too much suck.
Katana is a feather compared to the Claymore, but has better DPS, RoF and more shots per clip. Something's not right here. Not to mention the Geth shotgun which looks insane based on stats.

The damage number for the GPS is if you charge it up.
Still makes it a lot better and more forgiving.

Looking at the pure numbers, the Graal seems like a better alternative, it hits 1000+ and deals a damage over time.

Graal also has two shots per clip, right? Claymore should be adjusted a bit, otherwise it will be a niche weapon for krogan Soldier in MP, and it is not even the best choice for that class.

Besides it's power, it sucks. Really long reload times and not alot of ammo make me regret giving this shotgun to my Krogan.

I say it depends on the class as you noted with Soliders I use the best assault rifle and shotgun so he is extremely overweight but it does not matter because they aren't that useful on that class.
me personally i think it was a good idea to do this and make it that no matter what there is a plus point and a negative point to every weapon.

its a balance you can either go for the power of the shotgun but compromise your powers recharge time (claymore, or revenant) or go for a gun that is not as powerful but improves your recharge times.
That's how it is SUPPOSED to work. But even when you ignore the massive weight, Claymore is not as good as the basic shotgun, the Katana. This is just bad. Claymore and other heavy weight weapons should be clearly superior to their light weight counterparts. Otherwise the whole weight system just does not work.

My katana is only level 2, and I can take out phantoms really easily - the energy drain wipes their shield and stuns them, and a single headshot takes them out, or two normal shots. Long range enemies fall to a proxy mine, which I use like a cannon rather than shoot at the floor on the off-chance they step on it.

Be glad you're allowed to use it at all. If you don't like it, don't use it.

It's designed for a Krogan. In ME2 nobody else could even use it (except Shepard, due to "specialized modifications" if I remember correctly).
