 EDI hate makes me sad.

I wish people would wait to see her in game until they judge. There's actually a story to how she ends up looking like that. It's not just *BAM* hot robot body.

There may be a perfectly good explanation in the game but that doesn't change the fact that ultimately the choice to make her a sexy naked robot lady was made by a bunch of devs who have a history of consistently hypersexualizing their female characters (Ashley in ME3, Miranda, Samara, Kasumi, EDI, Allers, an entire race of sexy blue ladies whose sole purpose for existing is to be sexy... Tali and Liara to a lesser extent but their designs are still skintight and unarmored). The sexiness for drooling horndogs is the top priority, then they make up some in-game justification so that people can pull out the "WELL IT'S EXPLAINED" excuse for them.

Yeah, would have loved to have either Miranda or Legion.

At the same time I'm actually really interested in EDI and look forward to seeing just how she turns out in-game. I think she has the potential to be a kickass squadmate. As for her look, well some male character probably designed it that way. Hell she might even wonder why she was designed to look like that, herself.

The EDI concept is just awful.
I mean, it's true that it's best to wait until the game is actually played for final judgement, but I've seen the artbook where they say outright she was designed to be sexy. Something I consider very unnecessary...particularly because it turns out that Joker doesn't even care that the body EDI is feminine and sexualized.
So, what was the point, Bioware? To appeal to the "dudebros" (whatever they are)? Was it to make AI more sympathetic, because hey, they can be sexy too? Do they have such little faith in the audience and their writing ability that they think they need a sexbot fem robot body to get us to care?
Is there are a "all female squad mates must be sexy" rule?

Out of all the things the fans said that Bioware listened to, it's the idea of EDI being a squadmate. :|

EVERYONE ASKED FOR MIRANDA AND LEGION AND WE GET A LIVING ROBOTIC BLOW UP DOLL.

I actually like the idea of EDI being a squadmate. It's the execution of her design that drives me bonkers.

EDI is a squadmate? That's cool.

A pity about Miranda though.

Oh lordy, don't get me started on that. Putting in the same squadmates that have been in all 3 games. Arrrgh.

There is still one chance left to break that rule good sir, Tali. I'm wishing if we get to see her face it will be easy on the eyes but sexually unatractive as well.

Nothing against EDI, i actually liked her in ME2, bus as my ship, and talking ball. NOT as a party member. If they wanted to give us a AI robot like, WHY THE HELL DIDNT THEY JUST BRING LEGION BACK? Even more when they did something like making a char so cool, but for you to use in only 2/3 missions.

Legion not coming back is actually legitimately explained in ME3 (spoilers). I can PM you if you want.

Geth equivalent of Tali, in regards to his role.

Yeah, but Tali is a perma squadmate. Bioware simply has something against the ME2 squad. Gonna miss you, Drew!

Yeah, i don´t actually hate squadmate-EDI, but the more the reason she exists.

But the fact that they made Tali a squadmate again, is lame.

Well, atleast i can still proudly say, that i never have and never will use Tali, unless forced, like her loyalty mission.

Eh... If I saw someone with EDI's bodily features walking down the street I wouldn't be like "Omg stop hypersexualizing teh world!".

But maybe I'm missing the point.

I understand people's concerns but this is nothing new. All of this began with the Asari in Mass Effect 1. Most scientists agree that if we find life in our Galaxy it would look NOTHING like us. Not at all humanoid. But Bioware chose attractiveness and relativity over realism.

I'm just not sure why anyone is surprised by this. I never assumed they would stop making people hot. It's not just the women either. In reality all men are not body builders with high cheekbones but I never see anyone complain about that.

I like E.D.I's look because I think it goes with her character development. Judging from her audio files she seems to be developing a "human attitude". So it makes sense to me that she looks like a badass bond girl.

But maybe I'm still missing the point.

I think people are missing the point - if EDI can get a body, can Shepard become an AI?
