I'm on Gold. It's a desperate situation. 2 players dead. 1 on the ground incapacitated.

Phantoms surround me, 2 atlas' are creeping up on my position. I have my Sentinel taking fire from everywhere and my fellow Adept buddy is on the ground. I'm relying on her to save me once I revive her and she can use her amazing Stasis bubble crowd control.

It's getting close and tense but I'm heading to her, it's wave 9 and we're so damn close, it's a 'Capture 4 items' round and we've got all of them, we just need to survive. She has no medkits and neither do I.

I smash my way past a phantom and an atlas and I'm thrilled I survived. My friend is right next to me, I hit spacebar to revive her.

Instead I end up ducking behind cover and teabagging her with my Turian balls. I move out of cover quickly and aim at her, pressing spacebar as my shields go down. I teabag her again as I enter cover.

A phantom appears and skewers me so quickly that a Turkish chef who cooks kebabs all day long would have a tear running down his face at how well she does it.

Game over.

Repeat.

All hail the power of teabagging your buddy when you hit spacebar and end up dying.

Concept also applies to consoles. Press X or A for THE GREATEST BEST.

Please do not let this thread degenerate into BICKERING of console v PC. Thanks.
-----------

TL'DR - Hey BioWare, you uh... wouldn't happen to be able to allow us to change the 'revive' key. Yanno, to something other than the button that will fly your character into nearby cover with the slightest touch of W,A,S,D (or joystick) followed by spacebar/ X or A?

Because... I mean... it's just... :?

Been there so sooooo many times, it's not even fun. They should put a different button to run too. Cause... yeah think we all know how many countless times you want to run away, or run in on something and instead you end up hugging a wall or a barricade exposing yourself like an idiot. Not to mention it's not even looking cool.

Ahh yes the cover dance. The only way to get out of it is to move out then back in till the revive option appears.

Yes it is the stupidest part of the demo.

It wouldn't hurt the bioware devs to make a patch for the final version, to allow us to map actions to any button we want. I know, ME series is intended for x360, but it's not that hard to just give this "freedom" to pc players. And even x360 players seems to have this problem with the A (do everything) button.

It's indeed quite annoying to combine every action into a single button.

I think they should at least allow us to choose whether we want to use separate keys for different actions or not in the key bindings menu.

Yes. I'm not really sure there's much more I can add to it, but you simply want 2 new keys, totally 3 functions: 1) Sprint 2) Cover 3) Revive.

ME3 MP is trying to be a precision shooter with currently a very clumsy control system. I hope something can be done. There's been some tentative steps in the tech support PC forum regarding editing Coalesced.bin to support this, but obviously that's precarious territory that most people may not want to go into, and full support may require some patching of the engine/source code.

We console players are in the same boat, friend.

The A-button is overworked. Give it a break. Reviving needs to be moved to the X-button. A lot.

What boat is that, halting all progress in using technology for almost a decade and ruining games? I don't think so pal.

I know dawg, it's the bestest feeling when you hug a wall instead of revive someone. *highfive*

I wouldn't mind it being in same button as reload. A-button (X for PS3) is too crowded for it's own good.

Are you ****ting me? Consoles are not halting progress. A console is like a mini-van, safe and easy to drive, and a PC is like a sports car, fast and customizable. Everyone would like a sports car, but for many people the better choice is the mini-van. God, I hate PC elitists.

Seen quite a few consoleros complain as well.
Besides, maybe you guys are just used to crappy controls while PC players are still reminiscent of the good old days when game controls were tailored to maximum precision and efficiency instead of ease of use for noobs who can't remember the key layout when it has more than 2 buttons...

Just have a look at Tribes: Ascend (which actually is a current title) - that's how it should be done. That game is about skill, the controls are pinpoint and you can customize the hell out of them.

Binding Use/ Cover/ Storm to Mouse2 made the problem a bit less annoying for me since the steering of the character is a bit more precise then. But I agree there should be better and more customization options for key bindings.

Forgive me for not including consoles in OP, I assumed the general concept of press 1 key for everything applied to all of us and it was accepted by default that I was including everyone in this. Don't let this thread degenerate into PC v Console key binding/controls, please.

I'm merely trying to bring into light the fact that we've all had this problem and hoping BioWare will address it and recognise my attempt at dry humour on OP.

In a nutshell:

Kindly just recognise what I'm saying and that you all agree this is a problem that needs to be solved.

Maybe you should stop with all the "consoles are ruining games" bull****??? If you prefer gaming on PC's, good for you. Just don't go around lashing and offending people just because they use consoles.

And yes, I play on PC.

Oh for the love of god stop it with the goddamn sh*t-flinging console v PC bullsh*t.

*Smashes his face against wall* Just read the damn OP and if you have nothing better to do other than brag about your superior control system then you can go elsewhere.

All I'm saying is that we've all been in the situation where we dive into cover or teabag a friend who needs to be revived.

Nothing quite like getting teabagged by Krogan testicles protected by Fortification as you bleed out.

Really, it's a huge joke. If they had assigned another key to reviving people then it would be handy. L4D is a great example. E was used for revive. As far as I know, E doesn't have much use in ME3. ME three... E... heh, heheheh, rhymes.

So why not tap E. Or perhaps uhm... a shoulder button for consoles or perhaps something else that isn't used on the controller?

i.e. Spacebar/A/X for everything is an awful idea. It's screwed me over more times than I can count in the demo and I dread to think about the final game. Honestly, I've played Gold and Silver a lot and when my teammate goes down I don't want to do a roll. Or duck/hide behind cover. I want to revive someone. If the revive button was separate then perhaps I would be able to get my squad up faster. It's a royal pain.

That's a good idea. E is used only on SP anyway. I think you use the shoulder buttons to use powers.... Not sure about it though.

Consoles aren't ruining games, developers are ruining games, because they are too lazy to tailor a game to both platforms so they go for the one that sells most.
And truth be told, Mass Effect is tailored for consoles and I accept it but is it really that much to ask to have a dedicated controls scheme for PC players because it just works better for (a lot of) them?
We already have to live with a fixed FOV that is meant to be experienced in front of a TV that is several meters away (a.k.a. consoles). And this is no elitist crap or anything, just a fact: The narrower the FOV the further away the player has to be for a natural visual experience for their eyes.
It's a plain biological/physical condition, yet developers don't give a crap...anyway, enough ranting.

Keep it on topic. Please, for once.

Hmm. I'm just trying to think of a different button that could be used for consoles. >.< I wonder if BioWare know about this issue... *smirks*

Because we can just tab out of game and complain straight to the forum after a mission.
I'm sure Xbox players would if they could be bothered to turn the computer on.
