So when I rescued Anora, I wanted to kill Ser Cauthrien to get her sword, but as I didn't want to miss out on the jailbreak part, I let my party die to the archers after Cauthrien was dead.

Now the weird part happen. Later when I went to the landsmeet, I was greeted by Ser Cauthrien, and had to fight her one more time, so now I have two Summer Swords.

Has anyone else managed to do this?

Yes, its a technicallicy i guess. When you lose to Cauthrien's men she doesn't actually die even though u may of defeated her and took her sword (i know it defies all logic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Oh come on, it's not like this is game breaking. I perfectly understand how something like this can happen, Dragon Age is so huge, there are bound to be small errors like this slipping through. It will most likely get fixed in a patch at some point.

It's essentially the same as some members of your party falling in combat when the whole party doesn't fall.

I beheaded her the first time, lost still, and there she was at the Landsmeet.

It wouldnt be so bad if it was just one or two things...but my playthrough was riddled with similar immersion shattering problems. And your point about it being a big game somehow clears up the situation? Thats like saying if you make a small chocolate cake well - say, make it out of chocolate, but a large chocolate cake poorly - say, make it out of fecal matter, how could you say that you realize and respect the problems of making a large cake with a mouth full of s**t?  A huge game would then require a huge amount of testing and me thinks that Bioware just didnt put forth the proper effort in that respect. Just gettin sick of game devs not taking the time to make sure their games are as close to flawless as possible...and then when a company like Blizzard actually goes through the trouble, fans have the audacity to **** and whine about it...*sigh*

<3 Bioware

Dsurian, a LOT of people had no immersion breaking bugs. Do you realize how HARD it is to optimize/bug test a game this LARGE for the PC which has SO many different hardware combinations? Your cake analogy is very bad.

They did an EXCELLENT job, the launch was very smooth.

Two summer swords and the reincarnation of an NPC? That breaks immersion for you in a fantasy rpg?

Low priority fix if ever. Especially compared to the DEX/Dagger thing...

I have the feeling that defeating her is something you are not supposed to be able to do. How can the game company prepare for an outcome that is not supposed to happen. I am pretty sure that for everyone on thier first run through got stomped by her as is supposed to happen. It is only because you are armed with the knowledge of what is about to transpire that defeating her is even possible. Bioware can not even be take to task for this outcome, in all seriousness considering the mods, the fact that the player knows what is comming, there is no way that a game company can deal with this effectivly, except to make her unbeatable, then there would be the forum posts screaming about her being unbeatable.

This is similar to what happened to GTA4 people would use a cheat to do something in the game that the developers never intended you to do, then they complained that if they used the cheat to do it the game would crash. I used to ****** people off in the forums because my only answer i had for them was knock it off or suffer the consequences, like this was even R* fault. So for you folks with 2 summer swords and are irritated about it sell one and move on.

Well, when you kill Ser Cauthrien while she tries to arrest you, yout codex updates Ser Cauthrien's entry by adding:

"She was slain while trying to arrest [your name] for the murder of Arl Howe."

So this outcome was indeed intended.

She got a res after she died, same as your other party members do, she has a spare Summer sword that she uses as a backup. Its a fantasy game - as in use your bloody imagination.

Can't you post something useful instead of whining about what is basically nonsense.

LOL wut? Blizzard sucks when it comes to releasing bugs and then patching them into a game later.

you are indeed supposed to be able to kill her since after you live trough the battle back at the Arl's house someone says the loss of that chick name is bad or something like that

This game is one of the least buggiest games I've ever played, and I'm thankful.

Yes you can't have a game with both freedom of choice and a bug free experience... There are too many dependencies for that, and I'd rather have the freedom at the cost of some little problems here and there. As long as they don't go "two worlds"ish on us. :)

I think DA:O is decent on that aspect, the bugs are present but not as much as other games that are a lot more limited in scope.

Its not a bug. Its what you would call a cheat since your not supposed to kill her and lose.

After the archers beat you, Ser Cauthrien got up and used a lesser injury kit.

We were not supposed to be able to beat her in that first meeting but giving her a god mode would be worse! Try the Nightmare plus mod which won't let you kite her away from her soldiers and tell me again how you killed her... unless you are saying that you did kill her and all her soldiers and never ended up in prison... that is possible too... perhaps.

And yes, I ended up with 2 swords in my first run... good sell on the dupped one.. hehe

Does her evil twin have a goatee?

I managed to defeat her and all the archers on the first try. I saved, reloaded, and tried surrendering.

Now I don't know how I want to proceed. On one hand, I got a nice sword and the pride of knowing I beat her down. On the other hand, if I go with the surrender save, I open a new map and get to play a prison break.
