Human soldier is pretty good accually. Give him Revenant X (which I have and it ROCKS! I changed my opinion about it being useless when it got to higher ranks) + pretty much any ammo power, single use assault rifle enhancement, In the full game you will be able to outfit your gun with x% dmg extended barrel, spec into +50% dmg Adrenaline rush and +50% Shield strengh. And there you go - deadly soldier is deadly when Adrenaline is on, you can even effectively burst fire distant enemies with equiped scope. I tested this setup on Silver and it mauls cerberus guys to shreds if you have decent aim. If properly taking cover and utilizing protection of corners you can take Atlases all on your own no problem. Soldier on Adrenaline rush really does decent damage and you can spam ARush pretty much the whole time if you take only Revenant X. The only drawbacks are that soldier moves damn slow when firing Revenent full auto, this way it is easy to get shot by other enemies that are around, so it is highly advisable to stick with a team, also, I cannot seem to get used to the recoil of it because I use very low sensitivity and constantly run out of space on my already big mouse pad when trying to compensate. Recoil in general is a bit too much for me in this game it is all over the place on some guns, so crude and forceful, lacks subtlety. All in all, I would say excelent support class to defend heavy hitters like Infils with Widows or what have you against pretty much everything, would do wonders against swarms of husks.

Also, as proof:

Concussion Shot, Grenades + Adrenaline Rush = The guy in front of you wish he'd never been born.

Looks at Lv 7 Vanguard's score.

Then looks at levels of other teammates. 20, 19, 17...

Geez. At least Human Vanguards are finally catching on.

Also I find it a bit distressful that Revenant X (by itself) gives 100% cooldown. I would think you better off with the M-8 Avenger or some Pistol/SMG combo to maximize cooldowns.

So on frag grenade, radius or damage?

Depends on your skill at rolling/throwing them and your lag, I suppose. I went radius, because I don't have a lag-less connection.

I've just finished bronze challenge with my soldier by myself.
Soldier is as good class as any other - just need to have skills to use it properly.

Human Soldier is basic but if it is "worst" then it must not be by much. The frag grenades are able to do some catastrophic damage that kills anything short of an Atlas or a fully barriered Phantom, and Concussion Shot and the ability to spam that comes with it has saved more than a few teammates' bacons (and it's aways satisfying to interrupt a Cerberus Trooper's herpderp curbstomp).

Adrenaline Rush is pretty meh, but I guess it has its uses.

Krogan Soldier is just a whole 'nother ballgame, though. I unlocked it today and it instantly became my second or third favorite class-race combo. The ability to squish Phantoms into paste with a forearm bash is the most satisfying thing.

Human soldier is definitely not the worst class, are you guys forgetting about the Quarian Engineer?

The only thing that needs a buff is Adrenaline Rush, it needs just a little bit of extra edge.

Concussion shot is very useful.

And the grenades are very useful if you use them right. They are good at taking down two guardians or taking down multiple enemies, you can also upgrade it to be very strong against Atlas Mechs.

The Soldier is a very well rounded class that can take a lot of enemy attention and damage and you can also deal consistent weapon damage too which people seem to forget, also people seem to forget that the Human soldier (and soldier in general) is great at melee and unlike the other classes you can one shot kill weaker enemies.

So yeah. To put it into tl;dr the Human Soldier isn't the best class but its not really close to the worst class.

I think this could just be another one of those things where all the pretentious mage/biotics/super powered people think they need to bash the essential/bread and butter class of the game to make themselves feel like they are playing the smart people class or something...

So you had a Revanant X. Nice to see the class is balanced around a rank 10 gold rare weapon. <_<

Oh whats that? You were match by a level 7 Vanguard? Lulz.

To top it off you failed the mission. I guess you point farming didn't help much.

AR/CS specd soldier and i carry only a mattock, best set up for that im opinion is a AR and a sniper if you use Adrenaline rush religiously (viper is best for this, not mantis or widow.)

I've seen this before. The Infiltrator uses a pistol so he/she can spam powers when he/she should be using the sniper rifles. I'm guessing the Adept was a human? I can pull off about 40k in points using an Asari Adept from assists and Carnifex headshots. At least your Vanguard knows what he/she is doing however the only reason you had the top score was from lack of skill on your teams part. I usually pull out on top with my Soldier. It is not because the class is good, but because the teammates are bad and they let me get 75 sniper rifle kills/75 kills/20 headshots with a Mantis X. If I am ever able to get a widow I could do the same with a Quarian Engineer.

I have been Running my Human Soldier as AoE CS to add to CC when I play on Silver and Gold. Hitting a target to the left or right of a stasis'd enemy can sometimes knock them in, but at least knocks them down. Couple this with a Mattock X and you can cut enemies down pretty darn quickly

I messed up on the build though, so on retail, it will be much more carefully constructed to have Male as Direct damage, and Female as AoE.. should be a good mix for groups :D

I actually find the human soldier the most fun class to play because I specialize him for pure weapon damage and concussive shot. Not as fancy as adepts, but I kill things so fast.

Pew pew pew.

I don't like that rush prevents you from using abilities though. That HAS to go.

Can the AoE version also knock the shield away from guardians?

Also grenades need to be a cooldown ability. It seems completely random about when they reload.

I mean they don't reload automatically and you need to visit a crate AFTER some hidden timer refreshes. This is the worst ability feedback possible.

I have found that depending on how close the impacted enemy is to my target.. IE, if I target a Trooper, and a Guardian is directly beside him, shield will get blown back. If they are farther away, i find they just do thier "stutter start" like when being hit from the front by bullet fire.

Ok so a direct shot or close proximity shot will knock the shield back but too far away will knock the shield back on the target, but only stagger-step the guys that are too far away?

Also, against mos enemies the full force and damage CS will completely knock them on their asses. Can you AoE knock them on their asses?

Almost everything about human soldier was said above. I'd like to share from my personal experience too. I find playing with this dude very relaxing :) I specialized him for pure weapon dmg (which is what this class gets profits from), full health & shields, I use Avenger X with extra mag and stabilizer. What I do is simple as it is: never stop shooting and spam Concussive Shot's :D Any kind of ammo mod makes big difference. I stick with Silver matches only and never had problems (alone against Phantoms is what you don't want with other classes too).
SO I dissagree, human soldier is not the worst class ever (can't say if there is any).

CS with Ammo powers pounds phantoms to death but make sure you have shot gun . . .get in close just spam CS on them, if they hit you hit AR bringing shields back up and just blast away. . .my technique . . . have not had a problem yet , on silver or gold

Soldier human male is just..."ok" with actually some cool abilities.
Problem is that when you compare him to some others...forget it.

- Grenades are great in theory, but the fact that it takes AGES to reload them to max makes them totally lame. I actually regret speccing into them whatsoever since they are not reliable.
- Concussive shot is "decent", but does crap damage and just sucks for anything with armor/barrier/shield. You can spam it nicely though but most of the time, you're better off just headshotting.
- Adrenaline is great. That's probably the one ability I use all the time.

One massive advice?
Dump these crap of Assault Rifles and pick up the best damaging Pistol. Will be the best thing you'll do with a male soldier. These with adrenalin will just rip through stuff. Never seen Atlas go down so fast.

I found soldier pretty tough. Adrenaline Rush, max out your weapon damage as well, and then grenades! You become a shooting monster really quick that way.

I started carrying a sniper rifle and an AR, the bonuses all stack up pretty freakin quick and makes for a very very good all round suppression/murder master.

The best part about Adrenaline Rush? It instantly reloads your weapon. Slap a thermal clip mod on the Revenant and you can shoot ALL DAY.

ARush, start shooting. By the time you start to run out of your 108 shots, ARush has recharged. Hit it, full ammo, keep shooting. Repeat until you have gone through 428 bullets or the enemy wave.

Just stay away from concussive shot, keep adrenaline rush on(but only when you can actually get a beat on people).Grenades are also super useful for taking out cannibals or Geth/Cerberus troopers, anything unshielded, I prefer to run Avenger/Crusader, as the avengers lets me deal with stuff at a longer range, and it has a moderate sized clip with very low damage, on the other hand the Crusader just anihilates anything, your AR cd will be aroud 3-4 seconds witch is quite enough to get a grenade into a group, or simply change position, run away... P.S. The crusader annihilates brutes and ravagers 6shots for a brute with AR, 4for a ravager :)

i don't use AR at all, despecced it in favour of all the other skills. I have no trouble playing gold.
