Okay, so... I'll start out by saying that I'm really enjoying multiplayer. But due to my living conditions, I'm forced to live with Satellite. There is NOTHING better available to me currently. So I'm forced to live with it for now.

But I've been playing Mass Effect for a long time. I know how to play the game, and I'm pretty good at compensating for the lag with my playstyle. And I'm always careful to never be the leader/host of the game so the lag isn't inflicted on the other party members.

My lag is not so bad that I cause a wipe, or that we fail. Most every match I've joined thus far on silver has still been completed sucessfully.

But would you tolerate my lag because I know what I'm doing, or vote kick me in hope for a worse player with a better connection?

As long as you can compensate for the lag I see no reason to stop playing with you. I don't know about gold though.

If the lag doesn't affect my gameplay, you'd be welcome.
The only thing I can't stand is if I'm in a dire situation, suddenly start rubber-banding around and die. Happened several times yesterday...

Yeah, the latency is bad enough to where I wouldn't even try a gold match until I was able to play on true broadband.

I play an infiltrator, so I'm always trying to use my powers for a supporting role the best I can.

My ability to play multiplayer in games is largely dependent on the game. Some games actually limit the framerate (which should be completely unrelated, technically) based on the connection. Like Halo. so anyone with a higher latency slows the entire game down for everyone.

While other games like MMOs play the same, you just have to lead the shot by a bit. Like on my screen it looks like I'm shooting at thin air, but I know that's where the NPC will be in a second or 2. And a second or 2 later, he drops down dead for seemingly no reason.

However. That's just my lag, and everyone else watching me just sees what I did a few seconds later, so to them, it looks right. Likewise, I have to constantly keep moving, because If I'm sitting still the moment an NPC throws a grenade, before it even lands, it's already too late for me to get out of the blast radius, because of that lag time. But I have YET to die to one.

It's not easy to be able to anticipate that far in advance. But after 20 years of playing games like Mechwarrior and Tribes on dial-up and satellite, you get used to it.

Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer is not hosted by a Bioware server. The game is hosted by whoever the party leader is. So if the game as a whole is lagging, it's the party leader's connection dropping packets. Which is why I said above that I make sure I am NEVER the lobby leader.

I don't care as long as you're not off humping a wall somewhere. But if you start hosting, that's when I depart.

I'd tolerate the lag. And if it were me, I let other people host the lobby instead of me so they won't have the problem. I don't mind if I'm the one that have like 1 to 2 seconds lag. Internet connection in my country is not known for its efficiency.

Still depends on the Netcode what happens when a player lags heavily. There are quite some games that become unplayable even though the lagging player is not the hoster or it is a server-based system altogether (Counter-Strike comes to mind).

After playing Gears of War you develop a sixth sense that compensate for lag.

On topic, nope i don't think lag is a good excuse to boot someone. As long as you play as a member of the team you're welcome.

I've had people join in the middle of the game, suddenly making the game lag. It seems that if just 1 player has a ****ty connection it affects everyone.
If I had the option, I would have booted you instantly.
