Oh my gosh, guys. This afternoon was so surreal.
I had called my dad yesterday evening and we joked about tracking down the Las Vegas weather balloon, but when I discovered that it had actually drifted out into his neck of the woods it became a reality.
He doesn't even play the game. It's right up his alley, but I've never been able to get him to break away from World of Warcraft long enough to give it a chance. I'm really hoping that Mass Effect 3 will get him into the series, since it has the FPS and Team Co-op Multiplayer modes.
I'm really quite thankful for everyone's support for him, too. It's really touching. I only expected one copy of the game to be on the balloon and I never really expected to win anything, so for him to have actually walked away with a copy, a /space edition/, is so unbelievably amazing.
He called me from home to make sure that he hadn't spoiled the registration key by having signed up and agreed to the TOS on the masseffect.com/space website, too. It's so damn cute!
I've talked to my boyfriend and we're going to drive up to visit my dad tomorrow. I'm really excited to hold the copy of Mass Effect 3 Space Edition in my hot little fangirl fingers, but I'm way more excited that my dad may actually sit down and share the experience with me and my friends.
Also, I should note that my coworker xyigx stayed with me at the office for the entire duration of this adventure. I offered to give him my personal copy of ME3CE (which I paid off last week) for camping out on this thread and twitter, hammering the F5 key, to make sure that we didn't miss any information from Bioware. And that will be awesome, since his girlfriend is wrapping up her Dragon Age campaign and he is a monster on BF3.
Thanks so much, guys. Idek. Words fail.
