if its rocket launch and we were supposed to reach the land point, the rocket can only fly to somewhere no one live or it will hit someone's building and ruin someone's morning.

still dont get the rule

It's weather balloons. The copies aren't actually going into space, that would be a massive waste of money and rocket fuel.

Not to mention launching rockets large enough to hold a game pack is just a tad... uh... dangerous.

Not as dangerous as letting them land in random locations where ordinary civilians could find them.

I really wish if they could just tell us where the game was, and we all stand behind the line then run for it.

I'm happy I live in Colorado so my hopes of getting one were almost nonexistent because the map to track it is a POS

For the rocket technology, or the threat of stolen Mass Effect games?

I'm assuming EA has a reasonable degree of control over the balloons, the Terms and Conditions seem to indicate people will be waiting at the landing site to see which players get in first.

If the staffers were racing to find them at the same time as the players, they'd probably arrive to find a riot and body parts.

I bet they let it go and it got stuck in a tree and according to their procedures, they aren't allowed to get it out.

I wonder if EA bought a GPS guided missile or something like and somehow let the goverment allow them to launch it.

They're using weather balloons.

If they used missiles I don't think there'd be a lot of time to track them.

ok its at an altitude of 75 feet - as they are next to the sea I guess it must be floating pretty much straight up? but if its at 75 feet then i guess it did launch already?

For the innocent bystanders and/or private property that Murphy's Law would force the rockets to land on when the come back down.
