ok its at an altitude of 75 feet - as they are next to the sea I guess it must be floating pretty much straight up? but if its at 75 feet then i guess it did launch already?

yea its dead calm for surface winds for the most part maybe a little to the east
but once it get up high the Jet Stream is going to blow it out to sea

Cool idea, would be much cooler if it actually went into LEO before coming back down.

If I still lived in the Bay Area, I'd probably be somewhat excited. The launch locations do seem rather coastal-centric...

there is a bit of a fad lately to put cheap GPS devices + camara on a weather balloon to get near orbital shots of the earth by any with a few 100 bucks

Would laugh my ass off if they filled it improperly or something, and due to the lack of surface winds, it just sat in the park and hovered forlornly at 75 feet, just out of reach. Or maybe they forgot to take the anchor off and it got caught in a tree and everyone in the park's been staring at it for 3 hours.

EDIT:  Of COURSE they would release it just when I bloody decide to post.  Ruin a good joke, why don't you, Bioware.

It just turned around completely and went back towards the parking lot.

Something tells me it's under the complete control of humans, there's no 'see where it lands' about it at all..
