Last update was they were at the Luxor Starbucks trying to figure out a new launch spot. Still no furhter updates.Good Chaos7 wrote...
Does anybody know where they are?! I'm out here freezing my ass of at a McDonald's because Luxor doesn't has wifi & I'm here on my itouch. Plz HELP
Any idea what direction the lower level winds are blowing? Looks like north/northeast on the 'net...about right?
That's what I've got, at least at the lower level.
it's 020 degrees down low, but up high it ranges from about 340 to 300. The wind is blowing at 45 knots at 40,000 ft. Edit, to clarify... that means the upper level winds are coming from the north/northwest.
Edit: Priestly tweeted, I think they're still gonna launch at the Luxor, and they're setting up in the parking lot...it should be behind the hotel, across from Excalibur's parking lots, if I remember correctly...

not to mention if large animals are involved the risk factor goes way up for both animals and humans. so defnently isen't worth the risk over a game premotion.

I might make an attempt at the NYC launch tomorrow morning. Gonna watch the launch and see which direction it heads. IF (and it's a BIG if) it heads toward CT, I might make a run at it.

as far as the ranches blocking acess I cant blame them to avoid the risk of someone getting hurt on their property i doubt bioware or ea will pay if that happens it will be the owners insurance that has to pay.

I don't think NRMNDY was around the animals (well...I'm sure there was wildlife, but not the ranchers animals).
And that's why I would have offered to pay for access....and cover the cost of a "guide". But that's me.
Given where it was, apparently (on the side of a cliff)..the guide wouldn't have helped much unless he/she brought climbing gear.
And I get there would be liability issues...but I'd draft and sign any waiver they wanted.

Oh God...ROFLMAO I used to live in Vegas. And all I can think of is how utterly hysterical it will be if the dang thing lands on - well there is a lot of crap for it to get caught on that would make it basically near impossible to get. Or mangled...Please don't get mangled. Like by landing in traffic. Or eaten by coyotes.
Or dumped into Lake Mead (doubtful, given the wind direction, granted)....

I'm in Connecticut too, though I'm closer to the coast than NYC

Team Vegas and Team Northern Arizona are thinking it might head in the direction of Laughlin...the play east to to west is still TBD, though.
Edit: Though, Team Northern Arizona was thinking last night about how funny it would be if it DID land in Lake Mead...because I'm a SCUBA diver and have my own equipment. LOL.

Come at me, bro.
I'm in the NW corner...it's a haul down that way for me.
And it's the first TWO people to arrive. I don't have to make it there before YOU, necessarily...I have to make it there before everyone else. It's almost the "Bear principal" (you don't have to be faster than the bear, you just have to be faster than at least ONE other person running from the bear).
IF it comes up into CT, probably land somewhere between Danbury and New Canaan. All going to depend on the winds tomorrow and where their launch spot is....godd chance it heads out into the sound, somewhere.

Meanwhile, I am in Pennsylvania. If the balloon so much as crosses into my state, I'll probably try and drive up to find it.MrAtomica wrote...

I'm in the same area as you guys and I'm thinking either around Laughlin, up around Golden Valley, or by some freak accident out in the Preserve by Hole in the Wall. >_<

The balloon would never get off the stinking ground. I'm wondering what the shipping weight on those packages are going to be...

Funny, from reading their tweet, O'Sheas is nowhere near the Luxor, it's next to Imperial Palace. I hope they announce where exactly "south of the city" is.
I'm under the distinct impression they're using a technique known as "winging it."

Ah, yes "winging it".
I know that technique. More difficult than it looks.
