As I understand it, the GPS unit was not properly turned on at launch. We've been following the emergency broadcast signal. The Bioware Team is standing at the broadcast site, holding up the device telling them that the balloon is where they are standing, and NO ONE HAS FOUND THE BALLOON.

So, keep looking. ;)

i hope no one took off with all of the copies like someone said was being rumored around, that would just be wrong :(

that would be painfully wrong. ppl would at least like to know what happened.

Morally wrong yes but not a bad thing since you could sell the other 9 copies for way more money then you could have gooten for the swag.  This event is really stupid to have ballons randomly float around and hope people will play fair when they have very little inccentive to.

no...it would still be bad. Especially cuz you just sold your soul for 300 pieces of silver. Screwed your fellow fans...it's just bad juju all the way around. I wouldn't want that juju.

I don't think you sold your soul because it is first come first serve. I hope this teaches Bioware a lesson not to do an event as stupid as this. Having multiple people potentially fighting over a back of games could get ugly quick. They need a more controlled event to say the least.

if the rumor is true,  then there was no fighting someone saw something picked it up and drove way it is right near a populated area and someoen did see someone driving away

So IGN personally found one. Thats ridiculous. Interesting to see where the NY, London and Berlin copies will land. I could imagine that there are loads of people out there trying to get the SF balloon out off the tree and trying to search the LV balloon. Anywhere to get updates?

We're trying to get in contact with the recovery team. The last coordinates I got were what I posted earlier. Other than that I haven't heard anything more.

That's awesome (well, not the potentially getting hurt part; the part about searching for the case and whatnot is though). Did you ask him to go?

I used to live in the area.  It is NOT a "populated area".  The problem is moreso all the gullies and canyons in the area.  Plus all the trash and debris.  :|

It's possible that the Payload was grabbed, and some removed the gps tracker and tossed it in the location they are searching.

How can you lose the signal of a GPS device thats out in the wild? Either it hitted the ground hard or well it's really in Lake Havasu. Just funny that even BioWare doesn't know where the balloon is.

Then they'd find the GPS tracker?  It's not there.

I asked him to drive up to Vegas, last night.  (It's an hour from his house.)  When I found out it was an hour closer and flying over his house, he volunteered to go look for it.  :)

Lake Havasu is too far off from the last GPS report.  And Lake Havasu is full of boaters/college kids/army kids.  They'd have reported it by now.

My question is, if someone who did not agree to the terms and conditions of this contest happened upon this and just simply picked it up, and ran off with it, are they even entitled to the prize? they didn't accept the terms and definitely did not sign any sort of NDA that Bioware would no doubt (and rightfully so) impose upon them.

I believe they'd have to report to the Bioware Team on site for actual registration keys. I don't know, however. I'd imagine they didn't send up an actual DVD.

Don't know anything about the lake. But is it right that they made a mistake turning the GPS on? So that the balloon is gone and the GPS device isn't currently attached? According to Twitter, BW thinks that the balloon travelled further than they originally thought.

Actually...no NDA.

Contest rules are specific: Affidavit of Eligibilty and Promotional/Liability release.  That s it.

Hey guys, so the launch team is in the area. They are basing their search off of 35.2353,-114.2465. Which is really close to what I gave out last time.
