Let me start by saying that I still have the collectors edition pre ordered and I will be playing the "From Ashes" dlc. But I have to ask what Bioware is thinking making a Prothean squadmate? I will give them the chance to tell a convincing story as to how that is possible. I will give BW the benefit of the doubt.
However, I cannot think of a way this works or makes logical sense. Did some survive? If so, how did no one ever stumble upon them by accident? Or, how come they didn't make themselves known thousands of years ago, warn the galaxy about the Reapers, and give us time to mount an offensive while the Reapers hybernated in dark space? Is there only one surviving Prothean? Again, where has it been the past 50,000 years? How did it survive? There are so many questions that I imagine it will be nearly impossible to create a believable story as to how this will happen. However, I will give Bioware the chance to tell a convincing story come March 6th.
My biggest problem with thus though is that if done wrong it could discredit the entire story. The Protheans were extinct then we learned many of them were repurposed as Collectors. Convincing story and a nice twist. Believable. Now there is at least one still alive? To me, this has the potential to be a disaster if not handled right and, unfortunately, there are so many questions I can't see a way of this working well. This decision, more than anything else, has me very skeptical of ME3. I want it to be a great & amazing game. I have my doubts now though.
What do some others think of this decision? Am I alone with this concern?

I didn't read through the titles of the topics as I want to know as little as possible cone March 6th. I was mad when the article I read about the dlc did not warn of spoilers.

then word of advice stay off of the forums everything you read here is a spoiler no matter how little or how big it is.
