"-  Run the daoriginsconfig.exe application - if you can't find it, it
should be in your bin_ship folder in the directory   you installed
Dragon Age to.
-  On the bar on the left side of the screen, click 'Game'
-  There will be a box near the bottom of the window called 'Product Keys'
-  If you have a cd key installed, it will be listed in that window, if not please install your cd key."

"If your cd key is missing, it can be reinstalled by:

Navigate to the data directory on your installation cd and run 'Dragon
Age_code.exe'.  A prompt will appearing allowing you to re-enter your
cd key"

I have no cd key in the product keys windows, and i have DA steam version (no installation cd). How can i use this fix?

Bumping. Also having this problem; I managed to get DA:O working with the DLC, but the toolset will not install because it claims DA:O is not installed. I imagine it simply checks for the installed CD-key, doesn't see it, and dumps.

To find the CD key for a steam game, simply right click on the steam game from within Steam's "My games" tab, and select "View game CD key". Then use that key by following the directions in the Bioware announcement regarding the DLC with no CD Key issue. The steam version might have two keys listed... one is for the game and one is for the DLC. The game one should be 5 sets of 4 characters. The DLC one should be 4 sets of 4 characters.

That isn't the issue the OP is having though. He _has_ the cd key, he just can't register it since the steam version doesn't come with dragon age_code.exe. I'm having the same issue as well, though only since I upgraded to Windows 7.

To ShadowBroodz,

I have the digital deluxe download version (from EA Downloads) which included the .exe in question. If you have the CD key, and some willingness to mess with the Windows Registry, you can add the CD key in manually. The location in question is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Electronic Arts\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age\\ergc

doubleclick on the (default) key found there and type in or copy/paste the CD key into the Value data box that pops up. Select OK and that should do it.

If you don't want to mess with the registry directly, you'll have to search your computer for said .exe file.

Unfortunately, the Digital Deluxe version from Steam does not have this file, which is the main cause of the issue. Being comfortable with hacking the registry, I did just that, using your location as a guide. Unfortunately, the in-game configuration tool still does not see the key in the registry, so either I made a glaring mistake that I cannot see, or there is more info dumped into the registry than just the single key that the config tool scans. Either way, still not working.

Is there anyway the .exe could get hosted and shared out to those of us that do not have it?

Are you running Windows 7? I can export my key for you. All you'd have to do is type yours into the blank area.

Thank you for the offer, but I managed to get my hands on a copy of the exe and force my cd-code into the blackened hole of my registry. Would throwing it up on the internet for the other Steam users to use be considered okay by the mods?

I could really use a copy of this .exe as well. I have the Steam deluxe version too and all my DLC is messed up.
