i'm reading DA: the Calling now and they keep saying that the Silent Sisters always fight unarmed but when I played origins I'm pretty sure that every sister I met in-game had weapons and fought with them.

what's up thedas, how do you want it

It is the same like "Warden can sense darkspawn", no Warden sense any darkspawn in the game...lols any character with survival skill can sense everything including darkspawn, and that character are not Wardens.

@Herky - It's a mechnics issue, I think. Unarmed fighting isn't really programmed into DA:O/A, so instead of making it work and doing new animations for what only a few enemies would use, we ended up with them having weapons.

I noticed that about the sisters as well and I agree that it's a bit odd.

On Survival skill and darkspawn sense:

I was always under the impression that the survival skill that allows a character to know what is ahead is not a magical sensing thing but a recognition of the signs of the passage of the creatures ahead and possibly the reaction of the surrounding wildlife (if there is any). I think it's based on familiarity and study of surrounding.

I seem to recall Alistair warning of darkspawn ahead numerous times, as well as later on my own pc, but maybe I am remembering it wrong. *shrugs*

---------------------------
The survivalist raised a hand in warning and the rest of the party responded instantly by coming to an abrupt stop. As the others watched the skilled tracker slowly moved about the area inspecting the signs before nodding and announcing that two bears had recently traversed the area in the direction the group is headed. Prewarned, the group moved forward more cautiously. blah blah blah hehe

@DreGregoir

When you first time get into Korcari Wild, you are not a Warden yet, only Alistair, then the "first time" you encounter the Darkspawn (some origin encounter Darkspawn before Korcari Wild) did Alistair give you a warning or whatsoever? None. He can't even detect stealth rogue Darkspwn near him.Even that, and then sensing the whole horde and Archdemon??

"They say there will be Darkspawn sensing, where is the Darkspwn sensing, Darkspawn sensing is a lie"

You know what annoys me, Nizaris1? They say the Wardens get huge appetites after joining, but your character never eats anything. I mean, WTF, right?

Alistair repeatedly announced darkspawn in my game, it wasn't a cutscene or anything but a casual, "darkspawn,' annoucement when we drew near. He doesn't use track detection ability unless he is spec'd that way. Darkspawn sense and survival tracking are not the same; was the point I was trying to make. *shrugs*

My Warden ate! Depending on the difficulty I played on, he ate lots and lots and lots of dirt...

One of my wardens spent a lot of time on his backside in the dirt so he very may well have had a snack or too while down there. Another warden never got knocked down, she was my awesome warrior and future warrior queen. haha. :)

Really? Is that a fact? Then I guess Alistair is just a mean cruel man who made up witnessing the female pc scarf down food. Dang that Alistair! How dare he make up a lie like that. LOL! That is it! Next time I see him in game I'm going to give him a swift kick in the backside. *laughs* I'm suddenly wondering if there is an animation for that in the toolset. LOL!

Actually it is in the dialogue tree, Alistair said maybe the effect is different on women...but well, if you select the certain dialogue option...

Women have period each month you see, so eventually the taint will go out....

It's called gameplay and story segregation.

Partially defined as: "The inconsistency in how things work or behave between the gameplay and storyline sections of the game, the latter of which consists of cutscenes and dialogue."
