It states the singularity automatically detonates when it fades/dies.

I've never seen this happen or occur, maybe my character is bugged?

I'd be interested in hearing about this too. I've not upgraded it yet, but haven't seen any evidence of it working...or any evidence showing it not doing what it's meant to!

Also, does the explosion caused when the field dies happen ONLY happen if it is left to collapse of its own accord? Or could we warp-bomb it in order to get a double-whammy? One biotic explosion when warp hits singularity and another caused by the field dying?

Anyone know? I realise people are going with the Asari adept, which looks fantastic, but I've not unlocked it and want to use the Human adept until I do.

It explodes when you leave it collapse on itself. Try it with enemies around, you should see lots of damage dealt. The problem with this upgrade is that it takes too long for it to collapse on itself. You'll most often shoot another singularity before it does which cancels your previous singularity.

That's why I took the expanding evolution instead. And even that one doesn't really bring much to the table. Usually, everyone that get caught in Singulartiy, die of weapons or Warp bombs. Then, I cast a new one somewhere else. So yeah, none of the 2 final evolutions are really worth it, imo. They are very situational at best.

Aww that sucks. I was hoping my human adept would have some kind of use/relevance.

Singularity would probably be better if you could maintain more than one. Maintaining two would make it much more useful, while keeping from appearing to be overpowered, IMO.

Ah, shame. I was thinking the added damage from a double biotic explosion would make the Human Adept at least a consideration when picking an Adept. But from what I've seen, the Asari Adept is just superior.

I'll go with the expanded singularity, but from what I've played so far the almost-instant cooldown coupled with the fact a singularity field tends to be detonated almost instantly (if not by me then by another player) makes using it as a trap less attractive. The game seems too fast-paced to waste time waiting for a number of foes to stumble into the field when you can just spam the power and take them down individually.

You might be better off putting those 6 points into Fitness, unless you're really good at dodging. If you're just experimenting though, feel free to try out those final evolutions.

This, and its one of the main reason why even my human sentinel makes a far better caster than human adept.

Anything that is unprotected is toast, but I do have some difficulty with Centurions, Nemesis anf Guardians. Just can't figure out a quick, reliable way to put them down. Come to think of it, anything that requires me to shoot at it tends to give me grief. Maybe I need something more than the Shuriken?

Never would have thought the Sentinel would make for a good caster, though. Might have to give that a go.

Once you max out throw for +200 dmg, and try to reduce the cooldowns as much as possible, its nice.

Even with tech-shield up (and appropriate evolutions)  the cooldown is way faster than warp, does more damage, and has aoe splash. It also knocks guardians  shield for long enough to get in easy kills.

How do I unlock throw? I miss it (and Pull) from my old ME2 repertoire, but I thought I was stuck with just Singularity, Warp and Shockwave?

I think at the moment Singularity is at 4, Warp at 5, Shockwave at 4 and I've got some points in the passive that increases damage. I've got 200% cooldown reduction from only carrying a single, light weapon, and think I've picked the faster cooldown option where possible on the powers so far.

I mean for Sentinel, he gets throw. Its much better than both warp and shockwave.

Do you have the Phalanx or the Carnifex? (pistols). They are a lot better than the Shuriken IMO, if you're not that great at aiming, the Phalanx would be the best between those two. :)

The final level Singularity does do the damage when you biotic explode it to make a double explosion...
