So, I'm having a question here, I'm hoping someone can help me.

I started to play another ME2 Playthrough with a new, non-imported
Shepard. I had previously played with my ME1 files, but wanted something
different, but not play ME1 again. Yet, the more I play, the less I
like the default choices that are made. Anyway, my question is this:

If I finish my current ME2 playthrough with a new, non-ME1 Shepard
(lets call her "ME2 Shepard"), then download the (totally overpriced
btw) Genesis DLC, then import my recently finished ME2 Shepard for a New
Game +, can I then make new choices? Or does it just show me a recap of
the default choices that were, well, default before I got Genesis?

Thanks.

An answer to this might take a while to get out; I don't recall many Genesis 'problems' being resolved on the board. And one problem I have come across might be what you need....

Technically a New Game + should retain the decisions from the previous game. What I mean by that is a New Game + ME2 Shepard should keep their origin from the original game, i.e. default Renegade decisions.

However...some users of Genesis on the 360 have noted that Genesis activates with New Game +s regardless of whether the previous game was imported from ME or an original ME2 game. (With respect to ME imports Genesis would override ME choices as it were.) This is considered to be a bug of some sort, in which case removal of Genesis would prevent import decisions being wiped.

In your case though it seems you want to use Genesis for a New Game +, and with this bug (if indeed it is a proper bug) occurs every time then it looks like it will work they way you want.

That's my waffling and speculation. If someone can either confirm or contradict it that would be good, because that's all I've got on that.

Thanks. From what few info I found, I could glean that the comic in NG+ apparently activates, but without the decisions, basically giving you a non-interactive recap of what choices brought you to this point.

I'm still debating on whether even I want to buy it, 320 MPs might be worth the comic, but if I can't make the choices unless I start it all over again...

I would love to have a definite answer before I invest in Genesis, so... anyone? Please?

The interactive comic is useless to NG+

I just finished me2 today, only reading the me1 storyline on wiki. After reading some rumors of me1 affecting me3 i decided to get the genesis dlc and try it on my me2 save. All i get is a comic with no choices which is the biggest waste of money.

and i wish i had read this before i bought social.bioware.com/http:/forums.warhammeronline.com/warhammer/board/message/forum/1/topic/103/index/8069827/1

If you tried it on a ME2 save, thus implying you wanted it to work on a New Game +, then it means that Genesis did not activate as it had done for others (which would actually mean it was working correctly).

The question is: does it activate for a new Shepard?

Alright, what I found out after testing and playing and finally bowing to download Genesis, then some more testing and playing:

Genesis ONLY works with a NEW ME2 SHEPARD. Nothing else.

Import a Character from ME1:
No Genesis at all, no comic, nothing (since you don't need it because you actually played ME1).

NG+ with Imported Character from ME2:
Genesis no longer interactive, just the comic showing the decisions made by the Imported Character from ME2 in the first playthrough.

Accordingly, Genesis is only viable for NEW ME2 SHEPARDS.

It's quite an annoyance, really. Why not be able to change some decisions for WHATEVER character to get some different story options/endings etc. without having to start a new game or play through ME1 again (which I'm doing now, btw and it's a drag)? Genesis restrictions should be much clearer in the description.

So, I take it my original question is answered, thanks for the help.

I can't really recommend Genesis unless you're new to ME and find a cheap ME2 copy to prepare for ME3 and want some more choices. (Choices you should have been able to make anyway, without paying for the prerogative, but that's business for you...).
