Who says there'd be any B-1Bs left? The reaper would be smart enough to take out from orbit any command&control center, airbase, nuclear missile silo, naval fleet, you name it, that could possibly threaten it before beginning to reap us.

There are always some SSBNs on patrol, at least that was the case back in the day™.

It's only one reaper we are talking about anyway. It can't be everywhere at once.

I think all this talk of nukes are useless. A Reaper can probably hack into the networks, **** up communications and intel then detonate all the nukes in the silos.

The survivors are then liquefied. Game Over.

The current defense budget of the US alone would be able to take any reaper and annihilate it 5 ways from sunday. I'm not worried. If it comes within the radius of my town/city, then I'll be running for the hills.

If reaper tech can survive a supernova.. what would nukes do? Either way, mutually assured destruction.

So a supernova is less powerful than alliance fleet (in ME1) who attacked Sovereign?!

It does not have to, so long as it remains in orbit and on the move we don't have a hope in hell of hitting it with anything.

But that's cheating. It has to be stupid like the ME3 reapers, land, and destroy things very slowly.

Except that's not what dropped Sovereign's shields, it was the destruction of his avatar.. and even then it took a well placed shot through his core to take him out.

You know all that "Nuke it!" is simply hanging on the possibility that the Reaper, Occulli or Indoctrinated Personnel will be unable to simply shoot it down far away enough...

We had a program, back in the 60's, to modify the Lockheed A-12 (e.g. the SR-71 when being flown by the CIA) into an interceptor. They designated it the YF-12 and attached a fire-control radar (originally meant for the XF-108, but unfortunately that got canned around the same time as the XB-70 Valkyrie) and AIM-47 missiles, which were the predecessors to the AIM-54 Phoenixes the Tomcats used.

The USAF never went through with full production, but in the event of Reaper invasion this is as probably as close as we're gonna get to the Normandy.

We are 7 billion humans on this earth.. i don't think any alien force will be able to wipe us out anyway they tried.. we breed like vermin.
And as other have stated, we underestimate the power of our nuclear aresenal in movies games etc. They will destroy anything we use them against.. (and maybe we make a continent useless for a few hundred years in the process but remember earth is big.. we got plenty of other places to live on)
Einsteins biggest regret is that he helped building them.

So i think humanity will survive any alien invasion until our sun goes super nova and by then i hope we have settled elsewhere. And when the big rip hits we are gone like the rest of the universe..

One Reaper Dreadnought, regular size, touches down on Earth. It incinerates cities within it's range, corrupts the minds and huskifies civilians. We are dealing with a cyber-zombie apocalypse originating from an invincible Dreadnought. This Dreadnought can be destroyed by overloading it's core, but that would require fighting through it, and that's suicidal.
How would you survive?

I would personally gather survivors and arm them with my impressive array of firearms. We would avoid the Reaper and fight off the husk hordes and try to survive. If possible, with proper support from what's left of the world's military, I'd organize a suicidal assault on the Reaper. While it blasts choppers out of the air, survivors will hopefully touchdown on the Reaper. We would fight our way through the husk infested ship quickly to avoid indoctination. Survivors would destroy the core, hopefully overloading the ship.

And when the Reaper locks its doors, and its cores, and doesn't allow you to open them?

Yes, they can shoot it down.

Which is why you launch 10000 of the bastards.

A... scratch? Sovereign died. Exploded. I'm not sure what event you're referring to

It's barriers didn't come down because of sustained fire, they came down because it was so focused on controlling Saren when you killed him.

Our current Nuclear weapons are quite feeble at best, we still havent got the best efficiency out of them yet, they also arent clean to use, you dont want to destroy yourself just to take down one enemy, defeats the entire purpose.

Plus they arent direct like mass driven charges which hit a tiny spot on armour/barriers, focusing all of its power onto that spot, alot more energy is just waste in the area around ground zero of a nuclear blast.

It is pointless.

Hmm...if our modern weaponry could defeat a single Reaper Dreadnought (and those are apparently the best of the lot), then there's just no way that the Reapers would have been able to wipe out every much more advanced civilisation in the galaxy over and over. Even with a surprise attack, numbers on their side, and sleeper agents...they'd still suffer immense casualties every time they attempted it.

So, lore-wise, I'd say that we would be completely and utterly screwed, without even a chance of denting the thing. Then again, going by their track record...even the characters in ME3 should be completely screwed, unless they pull out some kind of silly deus ex machina superweapon.
