Phantom Bug playing as Krogan? Insta-kill move leads to insta-bleed out and perma-death

I've had this happened to me three times now this week, and only when I'm playing as a Krogan soldier. I maxed out my health, shields, and fortify, but when a Phantom performs its insta-kill melee attack on me, instead of bleeding out and having a chance for my teammates to revive me, I simply bleed out instantly after the attack (while by body is still falling) and perma-die. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Pretty sure that can happen to any race/class.

It's meant to be that way. You're not going to be bleeding out if you've been stabbed in the heart(or hearts, if you're krogan).
I do think Krogan should get an exception from the OHK though, just to fit the lore of multiple organ redundancy.

Well in a game where I was perma-killed by the Phantom, I saw other teammates who weren't Krogan get attacked by the same move, but they were put into bleed-out states and were able to be revived.

It's the heavy melee that will instantly kill you without giving you a chance to be revived. They also use a light melee that doesn't cause an instant death. I've noticed that they only use the heavy on you when your shields/barriers are down, so maybe that protects you?

Phantoms should be a priority target whenever they appear on the field.

Ah, didn't realize they had a heavy/light version of the attack. As long as other people are seeing it happen, then that's fine. Though I always had my shields still up when it happens, but it's a great deterrent from me killing them with 2 heavy attacks, lol.

They also have a set chance of performing the OHK attack as an interrupt in the middle of your heavy melee attack.

Like you, I've also only fallen victim to the Phantom's Heavy Melee on my Krogan Soldier. Probably because I'm often trying to headbutt that lousy ninja instead of running away or backpedalling like I do on all other characters.

It doesn't always do it, but when they do the permakill it can work on anyone.

The atlas has insta-kill animation as well. The victim is usually a headbutting Krogan or a charging Vanguard.

Bro Tip - never stand in front of an Atlas.

I thought this was why everyone ran from Phantoms?

Nah, I've been insta-killed with my barriers and Tactical Cloak still on.
