I've heard that SSDrives have low longevity.

@bobobo878, I disagree with your Hard Drive, Mother Board, Processor.

Intel rules. I use it for 13 years: Pentium 233 - Pentium III 1000, Pentium IV 3 GHz, P IV Core i5 2500

Right now I'm running an Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 and, well, I has disappoint.

A laptop in our house has this CPU for two years and it is not much better than P4 3 GHZ single core.

Core i5 (4 core) is great in my experience (despite my Video-card get outdated). Core i7 is more expensive and even more faster.

I was too young to be following this stuff back in the early 2000's, but man have I heard some horror stories about the Pentium IV.

That was AMD's real heyday, back when you had 500MHz Athlons out-performing 2.0GHz Pentium IVs, and Apple was off in the corner playing with itself instead of producing inferior PCs with luxury taxes paid for their logo.

Yeah, I remember those days. Even then I was an Intel fan, and it payed off, I guess. They've been on top for quite a while now.

And don't even mention Apple.

i7's aren't really worth the premium attached to them, at least as far as gaming is concerned.

On the other hand, man are they cool...

AMD ruled since 2003 to 2009. Intel got its place back again. :wizard:

Actually I think Intel started their ascent with Core 2.

MicroCenter is evil, they have way better prices than New Egg on on the FX-4100 and the i3-2100, but they won't ship.

*rolls eyes*

15 extra isn't all that much for better performance.

Lenimph claims that the FX-4100 is better, 15 extra certainly is all that much for poorer performance.

Well check places online like tomshardware or maximumpc for a comparison...none of us is likely to truly know.

Again, you won't be depending on your CPU very very much, you're probably too worried about it.

RAM is arguably more important for multitasking, anyways.

True, most applications don't even make use of four cores.

Wow...that's a pretty big gap near the end there.

The Metro 2033 ones are even higher.

Yeah, I saw that, if I wanted to get Metro 2033, I'd just get it for Xbox.  So I guess that settles it, I'll wait until Ivy Gate comes out, wait for the prices to drop, and get the i3 2120 (The article said that it's 400 mhz faster than 2100 for $3) Thanks for your input everyone.

...

Or maybe I'll get the 2500k if the price drops enough, idk.

Haha. I also drove an hour to my nearest MicroCenter just to pick up a 2500k for $160.

It wasn't really worth the drive but I just had to check it out since I had never been to one.

They're so awesome.

It's like an online store, but brick-and-mortar. Physical>Virtual

How far away are you from the Fry's in Washington

The one by my house matches any online price

But do pick up at store only prices count as online prices? Still a 3 hour drive, though. :P  Yet another reason to miss Las Vegas.
