There's a huge one close to my house along Highway 75. It's good, but honestly I feel like Microcenter had a better selection. And prices.

But do pick up at store only prices count as online prices? Still a 3 hour drive, though.Yet another reason to miss Las Vegas.

Only real disadvantage is no overclocking with that one.
EternalAmbiguity wrote...
Really? Well I'm somewhat alright with missing it then.

Fine with me, I didn't intend to overclock anyway, but at $190 it really sounds like it's closer in price to the i5-2500k than the i3-2120.TheBlackBaron wrote...
Actually, bo, I know we've all been telling you to get a i5-2500K, but there's also the i5-2400. $150 at Microcenter, $190 on Newegg, matches or beats an FX-8150 that's $50 more expensive. So it'll handily beat an i3-2120/FX-4100/Phenom II X4/and so on.
Only real disadvantage is no overclocking with that one.

Does anyone know how to find a new copy of WIndows 7 dirt cheap?
That's about 80 bucks less than any deal that I can find on the retail version, what's the difference between an OEM version and the retail version?TheBlackBaron wrote...

Nope. Even OEM versions on sale are likely to run you around $100. Your options are basically that or piracy...not that I'm condoning that.

So what does that mean, no free software updates?TheBlackBaron wrote...
In functionality, nothing. I think with OEM verions you may not get the benefit of Microsoft customer "support" or whatever, since it's origially software intended for pre-built machines, after all.

Are you serious? All I could find was upgrades. I'm building this from scratch so I have no OEM license to upgrade from.EternalAmbiguity wrote...
Actually, bo, if you're in college, check to see if your college sells Windows 7. i can get it for about $50 through college.
