For disc version I assume like Mass Effect 2
you will need to do a partial game utility data install?

How large is the install?

P.S. Will the Xbox 360 version require disc swamping again?
"disc 1 then disc 2 ending with disc 1"

Yes it will have a required install just like most PS3 games. Size will probably be around the same as ME2. For 360, I assume it will use the same 2 disc swapping as ME2.

Some Games take real advantage of HDD install for the better. Personally i don't mind as long as that means better performance loading wise, but im sure it will be the same size as mass effect 2 if not bigger since they did say it is a bigger game and all.

According to someone who has snatched both PS3 and XBOX Space editions, there is no hard drive install this time around.

I dont like the sound of that. No HDD install on PS3 means slower loading. The whole purpose of installing on PS3 is Blu Ray has slow loading speeds.

of course there are also other games that need no install whatsoever and have zero loading screens. Like Uncharted, God of war III etc.

Its all about coding if you ask me...

Yes but do you notice anything about those games? They are all PS3 exclusives. Those developers know the PS3's hardware better than Bioware so they can do that with no loading issues.

I was waiting for someone to say that these games are exclusives that is why this happens. Well there are multiplatform games that need no install whatsoever. Final Fantasy XIII for example. My point was that it doesnt sound so unbelievable to me that a game needs no install. Good if it does, it doesnt bother me and if it benefits the game, by all means do it. But if devs found a way to avoid it, withoout losing much in the process, then thats even better too.

ofc the PS3 version of ME3 seems to be one sloppy choppy port (just look at the framerate) so I dont know what to think of it.

so i have the ps3 version and there is no install and the loading times are slow and my system overheats quicker because the disk keeps spinning more.

Yeah, mine too. :/ Might buy the PSN version later once the price goes down. Hopefully collectors edition download will sync with it.

That's a bad example since FF13 was developed for the PS3, and ported to the Xbox 360 late in the development cycle. I remember reading somewhere ages ago that the PS3 version was actually finished for nearly a year before release, but they sat on it until the 360 port was finished so both versions would launch simultaniously.

I was really surprised that the game doesn't have an install feature, not even optional. Most PS3 games require it, typically only games developed exclusively can get away without installing data, because the games are designed specifically to take advantage of the PS3 architecture.

In this case, I think an install would help greatly. The game will freeze for upward of 5 seconds every time it has to load a significant amount of data from the blu-ray. I wonder if that's something they can patch in later?

If it was up to me I would also like for the game to include an install option. It is never bad to have the option, especially when it improves certain aspects of the game.

The PS3 version NEEDS an HDD install. I'm pretty sure it'll improve a lot of things and one of them would be faster loading and the other is probably improve framerate.

ME2 had a pretty sizable install file and was/is my favorite PS3 game. I'm pretty sure they didn't forget how to do it, they just chose NOT to do it. The reasons are varied and unknowable unless the devs come here and start talking, which is unlikely. They would rather punish us, the fans who buy their products, with 2nd rate software which WILL burn out our bluray players than pay the cost in man power or lose the bonus check from Microsoft or suffer "lost sales" due to piracy. This industy is right now, a **** hole and I'm not buying another ****ing launch title again, from anyone.
