How do you think Day One DLC will affect sales figures of Mass Effect 3?

This thread does not relate to the content of 'Ashes' but moreover how it will affect sales. Is there any way to get figures on how many cancellations there have been? I wonder how much of a percentage these cancellations will actually detriment their sales. I know there has been speculation, but no hard proof for either side. I wonder if Bioware would man up and post these figures?

Nothing noticeable.

People will still buy it.

I expect it to sell more than ME2 :|

I dont think it will affect anything. This is a case of boycotting Left 4 Dead 2, yet all the boycotters were playing it on release.

Lol, I forgot all about that. Haha. I still never got that game, nothing to do with boycotting though.

Yes but to be fair I don't think there was quite the outcry over Left 4 Dead 2 or Modern Warfare 3 (servers) such as this. I know there is a small representation here on the forums but still, there are quite a few vocal people about it.

Moreover, will this cause business practices to change in the future? Or will a different route be taken. It is interesting to think about. I am not with the camp that thinks Bioware will fail entirely thanks to this move, but still.

nope, people will pay with thier wallets now..

and at a later time, the whole M-F-ing industry will pay.

I dont exaggerate when i say I feel this is the most important issue in video gaming today.

Also, do you guys think it is fair for say, a critic to take this into account while reviewing? I mean, it has been speculated that this was a part of the game, so with a piece of the game offered as (optional dlc), is this grounds for criticizing the game on?

I don't think that boycotting the game will have much of an effect on sales figures. But I do think that this outrage has a chance of changing Bioware's approach to day 1 DLC in the future, even if it has no effect on Mass Effect 3.

Gamers are by and large lazy and stupid, and will still get the game regardless of how they feel about it.

Hopefully EA does what they did with Battlefield 3 and releases it for free

I'm pretty sure the game is going to get great reviews regardless.

Me neither, but thinking back on it, probably the fact that it was released a year after L4D1.

I don't think this is an option at this point. Wasn't the Battlefield 3 DLC not included in any sort of CE? This has been promised for a while to those that paid $10 from what I know, so they would have to reimburse some kind of number to all those people.

I'd like to see a good backlash. I don't pirate things, but I'd like to see gamers stand up and resist against being jerked around for once.

Nail on the head, there will be outroar etc but at the end of the day most people complaining will still buy it.

whcih is unfortunate :(

What ever happened to project 10 dollar? was hardly ideal but better than this

I wish more studios would take the CDProject Red approach to dlc

No, but I believe it was a day 1 DLC.

The CE purchasers still get a ton of exclusive stuff

Because Valve promised a lot of support and DLC for L4D 1, and people felt that L4D2 should have been an add on for L4D 1 instead of a whole new full priced game, if i remember correctly. Also they were just pissed off that the support from L4D 1 would shift to number 2.

I was just rather pissed that L4D2 wasn't Episode 3.

Well that's the thing about the internet. You say what you feel you have to say and at the end of the day you don't really leave your chair. It's by and large killed grass roots movements, maybe because it's not important enough, maybe it's because we're too lazy and brainwashed.

Oh.

So basically

not too big a reason except a negligible broken promise
