Why was Left 4 Dead 2 boycotted? I don't remember :s

Me neither, but thinking back on it, probably the fact that it was released a year after L4D1.

That and because Valve apparently didn't deliver as much/any DLC promised. No doubt there were a lot of people jumping to the conclusion that L4D2 was DLC that Valve decided to release at full price as a seperate game.

Not an issue.

If anything this will be a relief to people who buy the SE but later would like to get this DLC, they can get it without having to shell out $80 for the CE or Digital Deluxe version.

And since it is in the CE it's a non issue.

Just people making a mountain out of a mole hill

Also, do you guys think it is fair for say, a critic to take this into account while reviewing? I mean, it has been speculated that this was a part of the game, so with a piece of the game offered as (optional dlc), is this grounds for criticizing the game on?

The reviewer is welcome to talk about it. Should then review the game without having even played the dlc, if the game is too short without it it should get judged on that. But should not alter the review by subtracting points just because there is extra stuff available, that would be exceptionally unprofessional.

Hopefully EA does what they did with Battlefield 3 and releases it for free

I don't think this is an option at this point. Wasn't the Battlefield 3 DLC not included in any sort of CE? This has been promised for a while to those that paid $10 from what I know, so they would have to reimburse some kind of number to all those people.

No, but I believe it was a day 1 DLC.

The CE purchasers still get a ton of exclusive stuff

No.

BF3's Back to karkand was free if you got the Limited Edition(AKA a Pre-order, or if you were lucky, avaiable for first couple hours in store), then it was available for purchase 2 months later.

The P10$ aspect of the game is the online pass for multiplayer.  Just like BF3 and other EA published MP games.

Game forums represent like, the absolute minority in terms of video games audiences. This will have a pretty small impact on sales, if anything.

Hard to say if some reviewers pick on the incomplete game theme it could get ugly.

I think it depends on the overall quality of ME3 it's much easier to pass up a game if it's DA2 level than if it's ME2 level.

It's more about what happens afterwards really when it's a product that people are not invested in.

It's broken out all over game sites and TB's counter is coming up to half a million so it's not a small problem anymore.

I don't believe anyone that says they are going to cancel their pre-order because of a Day 1 DLC. I know I won't be, I have had the CE on pre-order for almost a year. As far as sales go, I think it will be more then the 2mil ME2 sold in the first week, but I don't think it will be the 10mil+ EA is looking for that they got from BF3 in the first week.

To me it isn't a big issue. In fact I'm quite happy with paying more for this title because of how much value and enjoyment I took from ME2. I don't want the collector edition because the dlc is the only thing I actually want, the rest would be going in the rubbish.

We're still a few weeks from release, and there are already like 800,000 pre-orders on the Xbox alone in NA and Europe. Hundreds of thousands more will buy it on release.

A few hundred people on here and Reddit boycotting it will make no difference. Even if a few thousand people decide not to buy the game, it will make no difference.

my Gamestop has 110 preorders - which is huge because it is a small location - they are doing a midnight release so doubtful sales will be affected much at all...

I think there are an exceptionally large amount of players on this particular forum though. But that may just be an extreme amount of haters with an insane amount of accounts.

Never really minded that I always bought new on principle anyway but I understand why they need to incentivise people to buy new vs used. But this is going to have the opposite effect.

ME is not a multiplayer game though. It should have been the other way around get the Prothean pay for MP.

First origin, and now the from ashes fiasco. At least Bioware is making it easier for me to not give them my money.

Don't forget the internet blowup about a certain female writer. Sometimes I wonder to myself if they are doing this just to get all the negative publicity they can muster?

I'd be surprised if there's more than a few thousand. Given that ME2 sold over 2 million copies, you're going to be looking at under 1% of the consumer base for ME games.

Which are admittedly probably a small percent of the user base. Still I think they should care if it affects their sales at all, after all isint that the issue?

It won't affect it much at all. This is not something new with ME3, this is not something new with the industry and has been going on for years. Even the current BSN 'meme' of pre-order cancelled! Exists because most of the huff and puff of people who use it have no intention of carrying out their threats and this is shown time after time after time. It makes the few who do plan to stick to such ignored because they are swallowed up by the tidal wave of huff and puff.

To be Honest PC sales are more likely to be hit than EA's continued self imposed exile from Steam while trying to force Origin upon its pc market.
Origin isn't bad but it's hardly full featured or stable.

The argument that people are going to pirate instead now also doesn't hold as much weight as publishers would like to believe as the pirates are just as likely to pirate anyway so they can attain all the dlc without paying(pre order bonuses etc).

Also I wouldnt say that pc is a small section of the market, smaller than individual consoles, perhaps, However pc doesnt tend to suffer from second hand sales and can in many cases continue to sell well long after release.

DA2 Had a lot of preorders too, then it's sales took a nosedive after a couple of weeks.
