I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in the ten thousand threads regarding this issue, but I just got this sudden vision - why do you even HAVE to randomize, when you could just buy the specific item of your choice in a store for a definite amount of "money", like in pretty much most other games?
Just curious.
...why don't you just get Credits, and BUY the race/weapon you *want*?

Because people would unlock whatever they want and stop playing when they get bored. The current system forces you to try everything, or at least a good portion of it before getting exactly what you want, making you play for longer.

With that in mind, an even better idea: BOTH systems at the same time.
You would get your items primarily from packs, but after collecting a sufficient sum of money (say, during the time you play as you reach level 1 to 15) you could get the item of your choice from a store.
So you'd have the credits for packs, and another system of points for this store-based unlock, and these points would go up slow in comparison, but you could still get what you REALLY want, but still not ruin the 'fun' of randomizing.
Hmm. It's a shame probably this won't be implemented either, it seems like a good idea.
(Edit: unless they'd say this "another system of points" is real world money, because that's just unfair.)

What about random packs for current prices, and guaranteed buys for ~400,000 credits for a character/gold weapon, ~200,000 for a weapon upgrade and ~100,000for a weapon mod.

It could be random if they just narrowed it down,
If I want new guns I should be able to buy a pack of three new guns for like 30-50k depending on how often it'll yield an uncommon.
If I want new characters (for one thing it shouldn't give me unlocks for stuff I have MAXED) I should be able to do that for like 50k for 3 unlocks with a chance of unlocking a new character.

People just need to stop whining. It's not even the full game and it's barely even been available for long and people are complaining they don't have everything they want.

Nah, I have everything I want, it's just entertaining to try and think of potential other ways of making the multiplayer unlocks work.

Buying a Veteran box is like buying a pack of Pokemon booster cards.
You never know what you're gonna get, but at least somethings gotta' be good in there.
Now that I am about a decade past Pokemon cards, this is my outlet. I enjoy it.

I got a few Human Engineers from both Veteran packs and Recruit packs.
I wish there was certainly something good in there.
And I just thought of this because it seemed it would be more rational.
People who can't get what they want could get what they want merely by putting in effort, and still gaining randomized items in the meantime as well.
You can't say it's a bad idea. Not the "store only I want what I want herp derp" alternative but their mixture.
