I know this has been talk about before during ME2's time . . . .but please can someone explain to me how prothean
images from ME1 show them as looking like this :

Image IPB

We know from ME2 that the Reapers altered the appearence and DNA of the Protheans. . . so you get what is the collectors :
Image IPB

So now in ME3 we find that the DLC is a Prothean which looks like:

So the question is how  did they go from the top pic to the bottom pic . . . ? :blink::blink:

According to Art of Mass Effect Universe, it's more or less a retcon.

Doesn't look like a Prothean, DLC character looks like a Collector with clothes.

the pic at the top was just a ruff guess at what the protheans look like plus the prothean empire also included many species who also adopded the name prothean after joining the empire

the first one is a husk, the second is a collector ie heavily genetically engineered to the point where it is no longer a prothean

It could have something to do with animations. We don't know for sure but they could probably write it off as the top pic and those statues on Ilos were a alien species pre Prothean.

And Collectors are Protheans.

How do you know what Protheans were to look like?  ME1 codex entries that were just lazy placeholders susceptible to retcon which followed in ME2?

It's from the ME2 Codex, and the statues on Ilos.

Well for the invisible record, i actually think the final design is really cool. Collector, but with some realistic looking biologcal features and stylish look. Think of it as modern prothean.

That said, the first things are just statues, deformed by time and climate conditions, soooooo not really and accurate representation . And i never thought they were.

Because a skinny squid face doesn't look like a soldier that can take punishment.
So they took the lore, looked for every plot hole that it had and used them to explain the changes. It's a pretty risky move and it can be considered as retcon.

It was a retcon. No amount of bull**** explanations will change that. Won't stop people from trying..

The top tenticle alien-statue is a race that pre-ceeds the protheans. They aren't the protheans. The second image is a Collector. And the bottom is a Prothean. The reapers enslaved and heavily transformed/mutated the protheans into Collectors. "Prothy" is a true Prothean.

Which are part of the retcon, those statues are of the race before the Protheans.

And you aren't doing the meme right.
