Honestly, I had a blast playing DA 2. Was it better than DA: Origins? Nahh. Was it the horrible piece of doodoo that many people on the Internet like to think it was? I do not believe so.
DA 2 had specific failures in writing and enviroment design ,but overall it was fairly well developed and kept me enthralled regardless.
Oh, and back to Mass Effect. The premature haters and ragers with the glorious power of internet anonymity will just deny their previous vehemence or say something inane like whatever.

Someone can say "I just know the game is going to be awesome" and no one says anything.
Let someone say "THis game is going to be a letdown." Multiple comments about how the person hasn't played the game how would they know, etc.
If someone thinks or hopes the game is going to be good it is no surprise that they frequent the BSN and preorder the game. Those who "know" it is going to suck but still hang out on the BSN and preorder the game are... to put it kindly... not very smart.
If Bioware no longer makes the game you want the best way to "teach them" is to NOT buy their stuff and focus on other game companies.

Why would it suck? It will only suck to those who won't let themselves accept it.
Potential points of suckiness:
1.) Rushed
2.) Laughably horrid characters
3.) Laughably horrid story
4.) "Broken" Overly buggy gameplay in either SP or MP
5.) Ruthless over-monetization
6.) Clunky controls or interface
7.) Poor post-release support
8.) Let-down
9.) Untrue to predecessors
10.) Misplaced priorities in development
And their could be many more. Some of these I am worried about, others I am not.
11. Bioware doesn't care about the PC version.

If it does suck, bioware needs a new franchise.

Good list except number 8. That made me laugh.

It's not like that game has a massive fan following or anything...
That's an interesting development.
Yeah, its not like the DA2 forums are dead and DA:O has outsold DA2 for 7 months in a row.
Oh wait...

Optimist has potential of disappointment, pessimist will either remain at the same level or see a rise in enjoyment.
On second part you are right, far too much branding really here from lack of understanding about personal preferences and what one persons enjoys may be what another does not. A lack of respect or understanding regarding the principle of constructive criticism and those who use such without which no game will ever improve.
Too much taking sides of either everything will be amazing or everything will be horrible and the ones who fall in between thrown in with one side or another the moment they say criticism or praise. the game will probably have some epic moments, the gameplay will have some very good elements, but it won't be without it's flaws in some areas, no game ever is.
I personally consider myself I realist, praise what I enjoy and criticize politely and reasonably what I did not. Yet I am both a fanboy and hater according to some depending on each and every response whether positive or negative. Some people go to far in either direction but far too often everyone on either side is branded by same tarnish as the very few who do so.

Another thing I'll never understand. The all feedback must be positive mentality. If you have a problem with something in a game you shouldn't say anything. My mother had a saying, closed mouths don't get fed.
If you give constructive feedback of what it was you didn't like and why you have as much reason to post as anyone else.

you can make fun of me b/c i have "low" standards but idc, i thought DA2 was a good game, obviously it could've been better but i can say the same for any game . . . . I'll just finish by saying I enjoyed DA2

7.) Poor post-release support (Huh? The game isn't out yet)
8.) Subjective
9.) Untrue to predecessors (Again, huh?)
10.) Misplaced priorities in development (I'll give you this one)
And their could be many more. Some of these I am worried about, others I am not.
Fixed.
1.) Cmon. Don't tell me you can't tell if a game feels rushed. The lack of polish. The lack of pride in one's work from the devs. The feeling "this could have been so much greater.." .And so forth.
2.) You gonna tell me characters cannot be almost unaminously awful? Flat, inconsistant, meaningless, stupid? Are you a fan of characters added for the sole purpose of being sex toys?
3.) Please.. the demo left a rather juvenile impression.. and jersey shore characters... hmm.. EXCELLENCE!
7.) Poor-post release support can make a game suck. Bugs never fixed, community ignored, and so forth. Are you going to argue that?
8.)If ME3 fell flat on its face compared to what you expected, would you be satisfied with it? Or would you merely adjusted you expectations accordingly...
9.) Well, if the overall feel of ME3 has no resemblance to ME or ME2, you wouldn't be like wth? I'd say, this isn't ME, this is a new IP with Mass Effect slapped on it.

It's all the matter of a personal opinion, however - it's BioWare, i doubt they'll screw up their most anticipated game so far.2.) Laughably horrid characters
3.) Laughably horrid story
I will be honest with you - last thing i care about is "staying true" to predecessors. Is it RPG with Shooter elements? Yes. Same characters you saw in previous games? Yes. Still being Shepard? Yes. That's enough for me, i'm not gonna be an idiot and rage about thermal clips instead of overheating.9.) Untrue to predecessors
And that one is a really valid point, i'm looking forward to see which parts of the game were considered of highest priority.10.) Misplaced priorities in development

I am almost completely sure it won't suck. For some reason people just get really angry before a game is released. Skyrim is a pretty good example of this.
