Going down outside of Firebase: White?

I need some help. I was playing (and am now observing) my Quarian Engineer who went down over the rail of the catwalk of Firebase: White. As a result, I am now below the map watching my Quarian twitch while my team-mates do all of the work. Can anyone tell me if this is going to happen in the full game or if this is just a design oversight. Any and all help would be most appreciated.

I've had this happen on both bases. Mostly as vanguards. You're just glitched. Quit out and start another match. Likely this has been patched/will be patched in the full game.
