Is it just me or do turrets need to be tuned down?

Personally I've had bad experiences with turret spam while playing this demo. Here are some of the reasons why the turrets should tweeked in the offical release:

-If an enemy sets up a turret behind you consider yourself dead because you are going to be downed almost instantly
-If a dumb teammate runs in front of a turret good luck in picking him up.
-It takes atleast 10 seconds by myself as a level 20 engineer to deal with a turret (even though I consider human engineers one of the best equiped classes to handle them due to Overload and Incinerate)
-Opposing engineers won't just set up one they love to set up multipule turrets in one round
-They are just too bulky.  Even when they are setting up they aren't that much easier to kill.

I would love to have some feedback on other peoples experiences with them. Tips to help players like me who are having trouble with them would be greatly appricated. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Thanks in advance.

If you play as a Human Engineer with a Phalanx you can quickly take 'em out by using overload and shooting their armour with the Phalanx. I'm playing as the Quarian now though.

they're a pain but energy drain and a Mantis X make short work of them

Try to make sure the engineer sets them up, if the guy has time to setup two+ turrets, you're doing it wrong. That's the biggest piece of advice I can give.

The quarian engineer is very well suited to anti-turret duty(sentry turret with AP and flamer upgrades=no enemy turret), as are infiltrators(kill the engineer before he can set them up).

Asari Adepts are sort of okay against Engineers if they manage to stasis the Engineer before he can pull the turret off his back, but once it's down, it's a pain to kill.

I think that they need to be toned down on Bronze difficulty. On Silver and Gold I'm absolutely fine with them being killing machines of doom!

My thought is that they should stay as powerful as they are, but require the engineer to be alive all throughout the activation process. I hate seeing an engineer crouch to drop a turret, kill him while he's activating it, then the damn turret turns on either way.

Just had the best game of my wave of my life. My buddies got downed and I went to revive not realizing they all succumbed to a turret. And a bunch of Cerberus troops. I started with the evasion tactics, fired a rocket to take out the turret... and proceeded to clear out the wave solo. It was great:) No the turrets do not need to be turned down. Don't get caught in front of them... simple as that... just like the Phantoms.

I like the way they are. Weeks from now people are going to be crying that the game is too easy. Mechanisms like this will ensure some replay value.

'Is it just me or do turrets need to be tuned down?" -- No. People just want things to be too easy. They can be taken down fairly swiftly with Warp/Throw biotic explosions, vanguards' Charge/Nova, or engineers' Overload/Incinerate. They encourage caution and actual focus and tactical gameplay.

Which is exactly why there are three different difficulties included in the demo.  If you want a challenge then play on Silver or Gold.  The turret should be balanced to the current difficulty.  Randoms have enough trouble figuring out how to get to the current objective/extraction on Bronze, they don't need any more mental challenges.

Maybe have the turret bound to the engineer, if the engineer dies, then so does the turret, it's real fun being dead next to a turret, then being rezzed next to one when the wave ends, then getting killed or wounded because of it.

Turrets are fine. They give my engineer something to excel at trashing.

You just need to learn to avoid them.

Even bronze caliber and silver caliber players need some challenge to motivate them to improve minimally. If you can't figure out how to run away from a turret then its questionable whether you could figure out how to power up your computer in the first place, or operate an xbox/ps3.

The difficulty of the game is fine. I agree with some of the the posters above. You just need to pay attention. Game would be pretty dull if not for the engineers and the phantoms, and god knows if I was in teams decimated by those...

Nah they require players to have situational awareness rather than just blindly charging about.

Leave 'em.

>implying bronze is difficult, even at low levels

Lower the turret damage and there'll basically be nothing threatening in the entire match. It isn't at all "challenging" to keep your eye on the surroundings and notice an engineer, in all the time it takes him, to set up a turret and simply get to cover or avoid it. If someone is really incapable of doing so in bronze, they shouldn't be playing shooters, period.

Yes, first we have all the whining threads about how the game was easy and now it's whining threads about how the game is hard. People are never satisfied.

Right, like skill has ever been a factor in your ability to purchase or play a video game.  Anyway, the point stands that on Bronze the turrets are bit too strong.  And for the record, there are a lot of Mass Effect fans that do not enjoy shooters, it is clasified as an action RPG after all.

If the game is too easy then they can easily play on Silver or Gold difficulty.  There are three different difficulties for a reason.

Cobra rocket seems to be a good way to deal with the engeneer and the turret at the same time. Or if you are lucky and find the sweet spot and fire at the turret with out taking the damage.
