What do you think has more killing potential, the Phalanx or the HandCannon?

After using both, I think that the Carnifex (despite its slow ROF) has more killing potential. After all, once you knock the shields off of an enemy, they'll go down very quickly if you aim for the head. Makes it even more satisfying when you hear their head pop as well. (Guardians aren't even a problem for me anymore) Phalanx isn't bad either, but it's just a faster-firing, lower powered Carnifex in my opinion.

Carnifex has more potential than the freaking Widow. It is the best weapon out of all categories lol. I KNOW it will be nerfed in final release.

I use just the phalanx and only with my engineers and adepts. Since they rely mainly on their powers, having a powerful handgun isn't really needed and saves you weight.

Carnifex keeps it at +200% for me, which again is very OP, but I don't care. =)

As an Asari adept I have weight reduction for heavy pistols + other weight reduction and power bonus. I have my 200%.

I just unlocked the Carnifex today. So far it's been pretty much what most people say. It's one helluva hand cannon. Can easily make some pink mist out of Cerb troops. With a scope attached it's even more deadly.

But I don't like the slow rate of fire on it. It makes it difficult (at least for me) to play at close range with it. Phalanx still packs a punch and is able to fire at a much faster rate, so for the moment I still perfer that.

If you look through those full game weapons that were shown on the Steam Forums a few days ago, you will see that each weapon category has one gun that's basically just a reskin of another one.

The pistol version is a Carnifex that is EVEN MORE POWERFUL!

On platinum difficulty, the phantoms will use dual carnifexes while being inside Mini-atlas armor with energy blades strapped to the exterior metal plating.

Ok, a note here. I played a Salarian infiltrator with Carnifex and Proximity mines. These mines are very powerful, and can effectively be used as a concussive shot, as they go right out of the gun at high speed and don't even gimp shooting speed, so once in 3 bullets you can also shoot a fourth mine bullet. That ripped appart atlas pretty quick actually, BUT these mines are VERY inaccurate, for some reason they move a little away from the direct location the cursosr is pointing. Judging from that, it will be very hard to make headshots with a scorpion, nulike Carnifex. Try it out.

Tbh im too lazy to zoom and aim, unless it is absolutely required. Thus i run with Phalanx. Its still possible to headshot mobs and it doesnt weight so much. Or shotguns!

i am rank 120 now and i dont have the carni xD . well phalanx is pretty beast anyway i dont have any trouble with it to deal against any ennemy from all range

The only relevant question is whether to take the Carnifex or the Widow if you're fortunate enough to have both.

Mid 80's, still only have the Hand Cannon.  I carry it on pretty much anything, and also take a Tempest X if I play a class where I get my damage from guns.  It's excellent at peeling shields, and it only costs me 30% recharge bonus.
