Nope. Tried it once (with an SMG as well), it was horrible.

Need more practise then. Once you get into the groove it's headshot city.

On my Infiltrator: Cloak->Energy Drain-> 2 head shots with Carnifex will kill a Phantom from full health on gold.

shuriken can be used for headshots, just have to steady move the mouse downwards and the gun becomes accurate (lol Bioware) however thats just too much work. Same with carnifax tbh.

The Scorpion shoots mini proximity mines so that damage is AoE. It sticks to walls and stuff as well.

Ok, a note here. I played a Salarian infiltrator with Carnifex and Proximity mines. These mines are very powerful, and can effectively be used as a concussive shot, as they go right out of the gun at high speed and don't even gimp shooting speed, so once in 3 bullets you can also shoot a fourth mine bullet. That ripped appart atlas pretty quick actually, BUT these mines are VERY inaccurate, for some reason they move a little away from the direct location the cursosr is pointing. Judging from that, it will be very hard to make headshots with a scorpion, nulike Carnifex. Try it out.

The Scorpion plays a little bit different. The mines shoot fast and are quite accurate. They then appear on the target (and you can stack them). The target does does an animation (where they are looking at the mines and don't shoot) then after about 2 seconds they explode.
The damage is very high. It fires faster then a Carnifsex but has an even smaller clip (20 Shots at level 1). It's also pretty damn heavy (about twice that of a Carnifex). Puts me at +110% recharge on my Infiltrator.

I'll rank it up to 10 to see how it does. It's only uncommon so it's not hard to raise.

Okay rank 10 Scorpion on Silver. It definately is a mixed bad. Sometimes I wish I had the Carnifex, sometimes my jaw drops (when I kill a Centurion and 3 Guardians in one volley. At rank 10 I have +170% recharge so it upgrades well weight wise. Hits damn hard too. It's hard to aim (you need to lead the target but once it sticks on a target it's brutal. What was fairly common was that I would missed (not being used to the weapon) then hit 3 or 4 mines and then would then explode killing 3-4 enemies.

Going to give it a go on Gold, wish me luck.

Got the Carnifex yesterday and was a bit disappointed. Damage is great and my adept can use it with 200% recharge but the scoped aiming speed is ridiculously slow and that really breaks the gun for me.

Mid 80's, still only have the Hand Cannon.  I carry it on pretty much anything, and also take a Tempest X if I play a class where I get my damage from guns.  It's excellent at peeling shields, and it only costs me 30% recharge bonus.

Heheh, almost all my classes can carry a Tempest X and Carnifex III and still get +200%

It's absurd for Vanguards.

Sorry but although I love the Carnifex, I'd take the Phantoms overpowered pistol over the Carnifex any day.

Carniflex has higher damage than the Phalanx, but the Phalanx has a faster rate of fire. It's a matter of preference but I prefer the Carniflex. I can take fewer shots to kill an enemy and it is a "phantom killer". I equip my Infilitrator with the Carniflex for both long and close quarters combat. It's really the only weapon I need to carry.

It has more versatility but it doesn't have more potential than the Widow... main reason for that is Widow's ability to pierce cover.  The widow can kill enemies crouched behind thin cover, or even on occasion through the corner of a full sized wall, not to mention its ability to shoot through team mates and enemies.

The most awesome display of power I've seen so far was shooting through a player into a guardian's shield (not the visor, but the metal above it), through that guardians head, through another guardian's shield, through the second guardian's head before it struck (and was stopped by) a third guardian's shield causing him to stumble back.

I think another to keep in mind is that come release there is going to be twice as many (if not more) class to unlock and probably twice as many rare weapons as well. What this means is getting the weapon you want is going to be that much harder.

Might pay to start practicing with a Human Engineer with an Avenger cause you might have it for some time.

Highly agreed.

The phalanx is much preferred by some for its faster speed. I do. Carnifex is much slower and doesn't suit many people's playstyle.

I like my handgun to have fast rate of fire and good damage. So Phalanx is superior for me.

I have both guns, but I prefer the Phalanx more than the Carnifex at this time. The Carnifex is a great gun if you can pull off headshots constantly, but I have a great tendancy to shoot for the chest area instead of shooting for the head while the target is moving. I would rather have the extra ammo from a high level Phalanx rather than a low level carnifex. Maybe once I get better with headshots I would consider using the Carnifex more.

Carnifex is the better pistol. Especially vs. armor over the phalanx. The phalanx I like to take as a lighter backup with the AP mod whenever my primary weapon doesn't have armor penetration.

If you're not very good at scoring headshots, the phalanx is more forgiving. In which case, the phalanx is better for those people so as to keep a faster cooldown, and/or to have a secondary weapon.

Depends on the level, but if you have both at X it's the Carnifex no contest. It has the potential to cause 300-900 more damage depending on whether or not you use a pistol mag upgrade.

The carnifex is a much better power dealer but because phalanx has more bullet and speed it is better with ammo types. Also phalanx is a much lighter weight solution

My carnifex is at X and I think my phalanx is at V. Even if that was reversed I'd still take the carnifex. CD is 200% with every build I use it on I think

I've killed so many things with my Phalanx. So many things...

With Adrenaline Rush on, it shreds Brutes and Banshee armor fast enough anyway. Can't imagine a Carnifex being much better, until I get it to X. And still, I'd have to make my shots count.
