So as I played my last round of ME3 MP for the night, I got the itch to pop open my old Mass Effect case and play the game again. You know, for nostalgia sake. As the menu loaded up and the spacey music vamped up, I thought to myself, "Man it's been ages since I played this. I wonder where I left off?" I hit Load Career, saw my old Elijah Shepard profile was on Feros and decided to load it up. As soon as the loading screen showing a Mass Relay fade from view and I saw Eli with his trusty companions Wrex and Liara, it hit me.
We have come a long way from being a nobody Commander under Anderson's crew. I mean we killed a mind controlling plant, repeled Geth invasions, rediscovered old species of life, joined the Spectres and chased a Turian all across the universe. We made friends on the Citadel like Garrus, Tali and Wrex. We walked on the Moon of Earth (Not really as impressive as when Neil did it, but come on it was still pretty cool.) and traveled and super sonic speeds using the Relays. We stopped a major destructive force and made the tough calls. We died and were reborn (and in some unfortunate cases, died twice for the final time) in a galaxy that changed yet remained the same. We met new friends and found old ones living new and exciting lives across the galaxy. For some, we engaged in new exciting romances while others stood by thier first loves from the start of our journey. We fought mercenaries, robots, Collectors, and even faced the Harbinger of the Reaper armada. We ran a suicide run and some made it out alive, others died in the line of duty. As we enter the final chapter and bid goodbye to our Shepards, we have to remember all the fun and exciting times we shared.
So as I step down the stairs beneath Feros and continue the same path I walked down so many years ago, I want to say thank you. To both Bioware and to the community itself.
Bioware, thanks for giving me the storylines, the characters, hell thanks for giving me the opportunity to remember why I love the role playing game genre in the first place. You gave me one of the most compelling stories I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. This story trumps anything I have ever read or seen in theaters or on television. I enjoy the Mass Effect story so much, I skipped out on seeing the final Harry Potter to replay ME2 as a Renegade! (So you know how serious that is.)
The community, thank you for being there along with me. From the funny forum goers, to the guys who recorded all the awesome footage to make Mass Effect videos on Youtube. From the kid who put up the How to Mine effecticly guide online to the artists on Deviant Art who set up the Mass Effect fan page. And yes, thank you to the fan fiction writers. It was a joy to see your Shepard's adventures in the written form.
Elijah Shepard, I will miss you. You are a Paragon among men and a hero of the universe. Though I will continue exploring the world you live in without you, I will never forget the action, the drama, the tears and the smiles we had together.
Thanks for the years of enjoyment and here's to the future of the galaxy!
We've come a long way....

Outstanding, well said
They were exciting times indeed - exploring the depths of your morality with one hell of an outstanding crew and group of friends in the thickest of shootouts..and as the adventure progresses, I'm just left wondering what's next after this.
Openness to games like Mass Effect is a remarkable thing. Hell, I've had good times on and off the wire, but I wouldn't trade my gaming days for anything.
