Am i the only one who has not unlocked a single class that isnt given as a default? My N7 rank is mid 50's i have 3 characters level 18 or above and buy both veteran and recruit packs. Ive gotten a ton of human class upgrades but all for characters which were already unlocked. Whats the secret, should i only buy veteran packs? Also i only get the stock guns except for the tempest which i got in my very first pack the phalanx somewhere in the middle and a mattock that i just got today. Im i just really unlucky or am i doing something wrong.

You're just really unlucky, as am I. After a week's worth of opening veteran packs, I only just got the Salarian infiltrator and Krogan soldier. Everything else class/race-related has been for human female vanguard and human female sentinel. Still no Widow, sadly

Just be happy it's the demo and hope that in the full game you'll get an awesome unlock right out of the starter package.

I have to agree that I'd rather have poor luck in the demo (as I have) than poor luck in the full game.
With any luck, I'll open the Carnifex quickly in the full version. That alone makes even the worst class/race combos decent.

save your credits for veteran packs only. you have a better chance in getting one like that.

I am in the 90's with My N7 level and still have not unlocked the Asari Adept . I am starting to think Veteran Packs are the only ones to even buy in the final game . unless they create a character pack

If the drop rate on uncommons in recruit packs is high enough, it could theoretically be faster to spam those. The idea would be that eventually you'd max out the possible uncommons, at which point you would get rares.
However, this would require you to pull an uncommon more often than every four recruit packs, which in my experience doesn't happen.

I really do hope they change the means by which you can get the other races in the real game. It seems a bit nasty to make it depend on a really low stakes chance drop.

As far as I know, there's only the starting default humans (whichever gender they may be), then the left-hand one out of the alien races to unlock in the demo. Fairly sure. Haven't seen anything different. Ever.

Got a Salarian Infiltrator out of the Starter. It is my favorite character I have and I love Salarians. It's nice to see that I am not the only one having troubles. I really want a turian of any class super bad, but all I seem to get is Human females/sniper rifle upgrades. Don't get me wrong sniper rifles are cool and all I am just not good at them/don't use them so to me this is useless. Any rumors or strange voodoo spells I can practice to get a turian?

It's just luck. I got the Widow in the first veteran pack I unlocked then not too long after got the Turian Sentinel. Then a drought and finally a glut of classes. Agree with above advice, just save for Veteran packs.

In the full game there will be able to get the 4th row of characters, so thus you will have a better chance of geting more races.

It's all luck and I was in a similar situation. It wasn't until I hit the 50's that I finally got my first alien race card on the PC demo (Krogan). Then I play the 360 demo and I get a Turian on the first try, go figure! Really I can't complain, even before then the human classes are all fun to play and I trust Bioware when they say the alien unlock will come much faster in the full game, hang in there!
