I think the problem for most of us isn't the voice itself it's just the character the voice is attached toAmyntas wrote...
I'll have to get used to it. Hard not to have a different mental image for that voice.
What's up with the prothean voice.

Jesus like 3/4 of this site can't distinguise accents from each other. Its a Eastern African accent more specifcaly a Nigerian accent. North africans are an Arabic like people and most speak arabic so they would have arabic sounding accents.
ALSO THIS.
A THOUSAND TIMES THIS.
THERE IS NOTHING JAMACIAN ABOUT THAT ACCENT.

While the voice doesn't really suit his looks, I like it. It makes me wonder about a few things story related, speculation of course. The first humans are believed to come from around Africa. Protheans have ruins on Mars which is just a stepping stone away from Earth. So it makes me curious if the Protheans meddled with the earliest forms of man. So, it'd be like, the Prothean doesn't sounds Kenyan, but rather, ancient humans sounded Prothean in their accents.
Mind. Blown.
I like the voice cause its soo different and unexpected.

And seriously, it bears repeating. It's a Nigerian accent.

Edit: This video should shed some light on the whole Prothean involvement in early humans thing. Skip to around 4:00

Indeed. When I first heard it I think my eyes glazed over. By the end of the video I was sold. He'll always be with me. Then the other will be Liara or Spoiler. Not too sure. Maybe Liara b/c I'm sure they'll have great banter.

Yeah same here, I hate it. I think what bothers me most is that such an advanced civilization shouldn't have a thick African accent......It makes sense if some Krogan sound like that, but not Prothean. I know some people here probably think something like "BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER CUZ IT'S ANOTHER SPECIES!1!!!11! Durrr herp derp"

Dude Nigeria it's on West Africa... and if you ask me, they have a lot more in common with northafrican dudes rather than Eastern dudes like somalians or ethiopians.

I have wathed videos on several sites wich claim to contain the voice of the prothean squad member... And it's like north-african... I'm mostly impressed, I expected some sort of pompous british accent or a voice like the one on the recording on Ilos... But north-african? It must be a joke, isn't?
If it's true I would be waiting at all times a phrase like "Hey, wassa matta you, brotha?" xD
That sounds like Hawiian just saying.
I always wondered why the Quarians sounded Eastern European or Russian. I assume the reason they went North African Is because Africa is considered the place from which Human life began, and they wanted a voice to stir that fealing, of a race that came before all others.

I am so incensed that my particular demographic is not being represented in ME3. I'm Scandinavian and if Bioware is fair, if they respect their fans at all, they will create a race of aliens that sound like the Swedish chef:

There's no aliens that sound like latins.. there's some humans with portuguese accent and Antivans in Dragon Age talk like spaniards, but no latins.

Everyone here who is against it is just racist. Not even joking. The first character that gets introduced with the accent and all you can do is hate on it because it doesn't fit your "perfect" vision of protheans.

That's... quite the leap in logic there. Just because someone thinks the voice doesn't suit him doesn't automatically mean they're racist.
Likewise I'm not sure I saw anyone say they have the "perfect" vision of what the Brothean should sound like. It's just that, when you see that incredibly alien form, I don't know how many people would of truly gone, "Yeah, that's it. That guy has totally gotta be African". I believe that a lot of the people who are turned off from it probably thought he'd have a really unique sounding voice far different than any actual real accent. Thus, they're taken aback.

I wouldn't say NORTH-African, more SUB-Saharan voice.
North African is Marocco, Algeria, Egypt, Libya etc, IE more "Arab like".
This guy sounds like a "Kenyan" or something.
It does bother me that he sounds like ANYTHING Earth related, it's frankly retarded.
It should be like Legion, a sound of his own (not meaning machine like)...
So all of a sudden this 50,000 year old member of an extinct Species wake up and talk like an African, yeah that makes sense.
Why not make it Jamaican as well, or Korean accent.
I really hope this isn't his voice, it doesn't even remotely fit him.
Thane for example has his "special" voice, Legion has it, I would EXPECT a Prothean would have his way of sounding different too.
