It irritated me to be honest.

Yeah same here, I hate it.  I think what bothers me most is that such an advanced civilization shouldn't have a thick African accent......It makes sense if some Krogan sound like that, but not Prothean.  I know some people here probably think something like "BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER CUZ IT'S ANOTHER SPECIES!1!!!11!  Durrr herp derp"

Wow.

Man people just love to ****. I'll rephrase...The Bioware Social Network just loves to ****. I find it hilarious that the voice doesn't match what people had in their minds and they are throwing a hissy fit and getting their panties in a bunch.

Everyone here who is against it is just racist. Not even joking. The first character that gets introduced with the accent and all you can do is hate on it because it doesn't fit your "perfect" vision of protheans.

I like it, its new.

Pre-order canceled!

On topic: It's not the voice I was expecting, but I have no issue with it.

Africans or the ancient ancestors of humans may have had contact with Protheans and therefore copied their accent. So Africans actually sound like Protheans instead of it being the other way around.

It's called critical thinking.

I like  it , it's reminding  me from that movie, where jamaicans goes to winter games.
Here would be like this_

Shepard: Prothean are you dead man?
Prothean: Ja man

Here is a perfectly simple solution to what Bioware could have done with the voice.

This is how the Prothean could sound and at least be SOMEWHAT ALIEN.

www.youtube.com/watch

Using this (they already have the capability in their sound studio) they could make a unique sound to the prothean, even if he speaks English.

That's more or less what I said earlier. It makes sense to me. It'll be awesome if it's explored more in game.

As long as hes not a complete marble mouth like the voice actors we heard in Far Cry 2 I guess I'm ok with this. Very interesting choice for him, I'll give them that.

umm... no
1) that voice is compeletly wrong for a character that is suppose to be a good guy (might work for a villan)
2) it's barely understandable

As I have said before I like the guy's voice. It has a sense of grandious to it and it really fit his character design.

They did with Cro-Magnon humans.  There's a prothean artifact in ME1 that explains it.

While I'm not comepletely familiar with that series, I will say this:

If you're looking for any true originallity in... well... any for of literature or media, you're gonna be disappointed. Everything has been done. To Death. At least a hundred times. What matters at this point is the execution of said unoriginal material. If they can take what's been done, and put their own spin on it, to make it largely their own work, then I will be satisfied.

Dont see the problem. Protheans would likely have the same linguistic diversity as humans and other races have. Dialects even within the same language, can be almost different languages.

An american from Nevada would likely have quite a bit of trouble disciphering the dialect of a thick glaswegian accent.

Yeah in ME1 on that prothean artifact, but I think the artifact ate it.

-To me the "real value" was the added story and lore. /shrug.

So because he doesn't sound Human, like a British upper class, or Chinese, or brazilian, or American, IE EARTH.
Then he is a villain, LOL.

I want him to sound ALIEN, nothing like us.
What I posted was an example, he was using a voice changer, it could be sounding anyway they like.

Hearing The Prothean speak like a stiff upper lip British, or African, or Asian etc etc, does not fit the character.

Thane has voice modulation to make him sound different, Legion has the Machine like pitch.
Krogans have that deep rumbling voice.

I would imagine a Prothean could sound extremely different to us, The Elcor sound different too.

This guy sounds like he's African, it does not make sense at all, I just picture an African in my head everytime I hear the voice, not an ALIEN.
If I heard the "stiff upper lip Brit" I would picture a guy with tea and scones with a Monokel on his one eye and a snobbish look.
Not an ALIEN.

Let me know when it sinks in what I mean...
