Greetings!
I would like to, in time, be able to let you play one of my many stories in my head through the editor, however, I'm rather new to it.
Any tips, suggestions, etc. on how I should go about learning the editor? Perhaps start with very basics...trees, rocks, etc.
Many Thanks
p.s. On the road for 2 weeks and my laptop, pretty sure, can't handle it. Any video tutorials out there you may know of?
Suggestions for a newcomer?

The toolset has a lot of different tools and options and such so the best thing in my opinion is to select one aspect that interests you (dialogue editor, cutscene editor, level editor etc) and become familiar with it. Learn enough till you feel comfortable, then move onto the next thing that interests you. If you try and tackle everything at once it can be a bit overwhelming.
Perhaps have a goal of making a very small test module 1st after you are familiar with a few things. If something is giving you trouble ask questions here. Some people have done a few video tutorials and there is the toolset wiki as starting points.
