When I try to install my newly-bought Pinnacle Station DLC, I get an error message in the installer that says, "The installation of Mass Effect: Pinnacle Station has failed." From what I can tell, by doing online searches, this is a problem that has existed for the past 3 years... but the download is still being sold as is. There is also, from what I have seen, no explanation of a fix. So if anyone knows how I would be delighted to know.

same prob, running origin as admin does not work, was fine before origin but not now.

Hi there, I've had the same problem as you. I'm running win7 for an operating system. The last few days I've had this error and it's highly frustrating.
I also ran into trouble installing Bring Down the Sky. But I found a solution to that and it worked. I then (just now) ran the installer manually (without opening origin) and Pinnacle Station installed successfully. I do not know if it had anything to do with installing Bring Down the Sky first or not.
It may have been due to installing PS without having Origin open. To do so, you can search for "MassEffect_PS_ES.exe" (or just "MassEffect_PS" and it should eventually show up). Naturally, search without the quotation marks. I don't know if this will work or not, but it's worth a try.
If it does turn out that you need Bring Down the Sky (a free dlc btw for pc users) then I highly recommend you check out this thread to get it working:

and I also highly recommend downloading the file to get it to work with you. I made a post on the last page just to give my impression, and the fact that it appeared to have crashed as always, yet the install worked.
