There's a few things I think Bioware needs to change about turrets.
  • The first and most important thing is warning. When it gets really chaotic you can be killed by a turret before you realize you're being shot by one. It would really help if the controller rumbled or there was some sort of visual cue while you were taking damage from a turret to let you know that it is in fact a turrent.
  • Second I almost never get points for killing Engineer. I know it's a bug but god is it frustrating. Please fix this bug.
  • Why is it despite the fact that they can kill you faster than most things in the game they award you less points than a basic trooper? Bump the reward for killing turrets up by 100-150 points. And if you're afraid that people will exploit them a farm turrets just put a limit on how many turrets an Engineer can actually use (which logically makes sense).

At least in MP you get a message everytime someone kills something or gets killed by something. That includes your own death. So if you die, t should become second nature to you to instantly look at what killed you (if not only exact brutal revenge on the same type of enemy for the rest of the match!).

My note on Engineers and their turrets:
Kill them. Kill them with extreme prejudice.

I wish turrets would have something like a 180 degree field of fire. This would make flanking them a good strategy. Right now you pretty much have to brute force them.

you can flank them just set a krogan infront of it and you shoot from a flanked position. XD

qft. When I don't see the engineer, I hear his turret. It's a unique sound.

A quick high pitched *BEEP* would solve at least one of these problems.

I want to know why Cerberus has access to goodies capable of mowing down the most elite teams the Citadel races (and Quarians) can find, and they're stuck with a lousy two rockets each and small arms :P

I just avoid them entirely. They disappear at the end of each wave.

In the actual game, turrets can actually be a benefit if you happen to have a Quarian Infiltrator that can Sabotage (Hack) it to your side.

Isn't there already a limit on how many turrets each engineer can deploy? I've never seen one deploy more than two turrets, though I guess that might be because, as an inflitrator, I tend to make sure engineers are priority targets.

1.  The turrets gun has a very unique sound.  No other enemy or ally uses a weapon with that sound.  No additional warning is needed, just pay more attention and avoid running blindly into areas you haven't scouted first.  Sometimes you are running for your life, but you know the risks.

2.  Huh?  Maybe the PC version is different but I typically get around 135 points for killing an engineer and 150 for killing his turret if it is deployed.  If it is not deployed and I kill the engineer I do not get points for the turret he was carrying.

3.  Basic troopers can move around and throw grenades.  Turrets cannot move and can easily be killed with literally no risk to you.  A turret is simply an area denial weapon like a landmine.  It's only dangerous if you enter its area and you do not need to enter its area to kill it.

There is a limit on the number of turrets an engineer can setup.  That limit is the number of turrets on the map.  Each engineer enters with one turret on their back.  If they set it up, they cannot set up another turret anywhere else unless they tear down the one they set up and move it, or they find another turret on a dead engineer or tear down a turret another engineer has set up.  If you kill an engineer with a turret on their back and it doesn't explode when they die, it will be there available for another engineer to come and take.

Ohh lastly, turrets don't kill you faster than most things in the game, they kill you faster than any other thing in the game at range.

1.  Less is more.  Turrets are just the right amount of lethal and stationary that having a bit of map awareness makes them just fine.  If you keep getting killed by them, you are running blind too often.

2 & 3.  Who cares about points?  The xp and gold you get from kills is negligeable.

No they don't. They disappear after a while but the end of the wave has nothing to do with it. At worst you will be revived in front of an active turret and start the next wave half dead or go right back on the ground.

This, or a three tone version of it, pretty much anything specific to the turret, including an Elcor wailing in ecstacy, would completely resolve the problem.

I would like it if the turret made some sort of ambient noise, as Engineers sometimes deploy them where only one player is passing through, leaving a turret oddly placed and possibly deadly.

On the other hand, the pause between the turret seeing someone and shooting should give a good amount of time to get out of the way.

On the sound I don't think their is a significant enough warning. We simply have a difference in opinion.

In terms of getting points that's nice for you and your PC brethren but on Xbox 360 I have killed tons of Engineers and I have gotten points for maybe 2 or 3. There's some sort of bug related to Engineers giving points.

If you think a basic trooper is equivalent in danger to a turret than there's no discussion to be had at all really. Frankly I find that notion ridiculous.

Agreed, 100%.  It's better if you can kill those flippin' Engineers before they drop their turrets or start patching up that Atlas you've been shooting at for a minute now.

On silver(let's not even imagine gold) if you're not playing a super high shield class you're liable to be shredded by a turret in one burst. I've had this happen to me too many times (I walk into its los just as it's priming the burst). On top of phantoms dodging all my tech powers. ffs.

Nerf the damage by just a little! So's it doesn't kill you outright?
