So here is what happened:  In 2010, I purchase Mass Effect 2.  Over the course of ownership, I acquired all the DLCs (except the recent Genesis).  However, my email later changed and I was unable to access my DLC or activate my cerberus ID.  I tried to contact tech support to fix this but they explained they couldn't merge the account.  I was trying to find a solution which prevented me from purchasing all the DLC over again.  Over the next two days, various tech support agents tried to fix this.  However, on the last day, it got ugly.  Here is the transcript from the last two incidents...

You are now ready to chat with Animesh.

Animesh:Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is
Animesh how may I help you?

you:I have been on this for three hours and just when
I thought the last person was finally fixing my issue, we got disconnected....
:(

you:In 2010, I bought ME2. It was registered under my
previous email, which I can no longer access. The previous tech support managed
to get my ceberus ID working, but I still need to access my DLC

Animesh:All right.

Animesh:Please let me know what are you trying to do now.

you:My save game says I require Kasumi, Overlord, The
Arrival, and Lair of the Shadow Broker, all of which I had paid for previosly

you:The previous Tech support had gotten me access to
the others

you:But I am missing those

Animesh:Please allow me some time to work on your
issue.

Animesh:I'm still looking into your issue. Thanks for
your patience.

you:ok

Animesh:Thank you.

Animesh:Please allow me a minute to provide you the codes.

Animesh:Please provide me
the e-mail with which you play the game

you:(email removed)

Animesh:Thank you.

Animesh:Please give me just a moment while I look
into this further.

Animesh:Here is the Kasumi DLC

Animesh:(number removed)

Animesh:Here is the overlord pack./

Animesh:(number removed)

Animesh:Here is the shadow broker.

Animesh:(number removed)

Animesh:Thank you for contacting EA. Is there
anything else I can help you with today?

you:I stil need one more for the Arrival

Animesh:You have got onwe.

Animesh:one*

Animesh:(number removed)

Animesh:Here it is again.

you:No that is the code for the game. I need the code
for the DLC The Arrival.

you:I don't see it listed on my download options

Animesh:This is the code for
the DLC.

you:But when I punch it into Origin, it comes up with
the game

you:And when I refresh my social.bioware.com account,
the DLC is not listed

Animesh:Please
know that this is the DLC code which
was provided to you by Saurabh previously.

you:And Origin tells me that I have already punched
that number in. But that wasn't the code for the Arrival. I am only telling you
what Origin is telling me.

Animesh:Please give me just a moment while I look
into this further.

Animesh:(number removed)

Animesh:Here is the code,.

you:But that's a registration for the exact same
thing. That isn't Arrival. Origin says that is Mass Effect 2...and when I got
to the download page, Arrival isn't listed. :)

Animesh:Sorry, however, this is the code for the Arrival.

Animesh:I mean which we have,.

you:Then there is some confusion on your end because
when I punch that number into Origin, it doesn't say Arrival. It says Mass
Effect 2...

Animesh:Please know that you need to redeem the code on the bioware website.

you:Umm...how...

you:If it is through redeem promotional code, it
won't accept that

Animesh:Please give me just a moment while I look
into this further.

Animesh:Thank you for waiting. I appreciate your
patience.

you:no prob

Animesh:Please know that you need to enter the code on the bioware site, however, not in the promotional code.

you:Then where?

Animesh:The placed where you redeem the code of the other dlcs

you:But I registered those on Origin....which youtold
me not to use

Animesh:Okay.

Animesh:Please  install the game and then play it and then check whether the DLC is there or not.

You are now ready to chat with Deepak.

Deepak:Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is
Deepak how may I help you?

you:Well, I hope so because the last tech support is
ignoring me.

you:I have been on tech support all day trying to fix
this problem

Deepak:I apologize for the inconvenience caused to
you due to this.

you:THis will be the fifth time I have had to explain
this. In 2010, I bought ME2. It was registered under my previous email, which I
can no longer access. The previous tech support managed to get my ceberus ID
working, but I still need to access my DLC

you:Now, a few hours ago, one tech support agent
managed to get me all my DLCs EXCEPT one. Arrival.

you:I kept being given an activation code for the
full game, not the DLC

you:I can't load my save game without the arrival. It
is the only one I amissing

Deepak:I can understand your concern. Please don't
worry, I will try my best to help you out.

Deepak:May I know your game serial key and associated
email id?

you:I've gotten so many codes today. My email is
(email removed)

you:I think the code is (number removed)

you:But it may be (number removed)

you:The previous agent had me register a new game
under origin

you:SO I don't know if my original code from my 2010
game is still being used

Deepak:One moment please, while I review this
account.

Deepak:May I know from where did you purchase your game?

you:Originally in 2010, from Future Shop...but like I
said, the one I installed was downloaded from Origin three hours ago

Deepak:May I know your order number please?

you:Umm...no...you don't understand. I was never give
an order number. THe original physical game was bought retail. The version I
downloaded from Origin was done because of you guys. You determained this was
the solution to my problem. THere was never a transaction.

you:I have been dealing with this issue for nearly 10
hours off and one with you guys. I have talked with at five different agents,
each doing something different. The last was Animesh, who gave me a whole bunch
of new activation codes

you:And I entered all of those into Origin. Animesh
finally told me to redownload the game from Origin, thinking that would fix the
problem. And it fixed all of them...except one. The DLC for Arrival. The number
I was given was wrong.

Deepak:Please give me just a moment while I look into
this further.

Deepak:As I checked your account I found that you have gotten the more than 10 codes from us.
Please note that we can not provide you no more code.
And for your information is you will be continue for getting the code we will disable your account.

you:Excuse me. I have done NOTHING wrong. I have followed
all your instructions. I was not the one that made this mistakes

you:You were the ones that gave me the codes. Its not
my fault I was given incorrect ones. WHy am I being blamed for this

you:At this point, I might as well just buy the DLC
for six bucks.

you:But I was confident since you guys fixed most of
this, you could fix the one last mistake,

Deepak:I AM SORRY BUT I CAN NOT ISSUE NO MORE CODE NOW,
IF YOU WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME THWEN YOU NEED TO PURCHASE THAT.

Deepak:Sorry for CAPS it was by mistake.

you:Yeah, because now I feel as if "I" am
being attacked.

you:Is there a manager I can speak to

Deepak:I have discussed your issue with my supervisor.
They suggested to me escalate your issue to my higher level as it will be the scam attempt.
They will investigate it and will get back to you. It may be that they will take the strict action against you.

you:What

Deepak:Please allow me sometime while I am escalating the issue.

you:Seriously. You think this is a scam. If you want,
you can call me

you:my number is (number removed)

you:I will speak to someone directly if you wish

you:I can give you all my emails. and my activation
codes

you:I can give you the records from my last
conversation with tech support.

Deepak:My higher level team will contact you directly now.

The chat session has ended. Please contact us again if you
need further help.

And that was it.  No kidding...

I don't say this often on the Internet... but that is literally outrageous. Good lord.

Update: I called EA tech support under the Origin category and discussed the issue. The agent agreed that he didn't fully understand why I would be trying to scam a copy of Arrival and also agreed that the behavior of the tech support agent was innapropriate ("I don't know what their program is"). He doubted that the issue would actually escalate. He also confirmed my previous statement that the activation codes Animesh was giving WERE codes for Mass Effect 2 and not its DLC. I never noticed it but the guy on the phone looked at the codes and immediately noticed they were too long.

That's horrible. Hope the last "support" guy was fired. Very inappropriate conduct for someone paid to help people.

I just got off the live chat with a similar problem, I needed to get my CD key for my Mass Effect 2 copy I have registered on the Bioware site but they said that I had no CD key registered for Mass Effect 2. Even though I can go into my games and see that its registered. Seriously I think the best thing would be to avoid Origin, the customer service is just bad. I don't really mean the people, aside from your experience, but from my experience the rep tried to help me as best she could just didn't have the resources to. Regardless she gave me an activation code for origin for ME2, so now I am just worried that I wont be able to get my DLC to work lol.
