The PC is finished as a gaming platform. It's a minority market and it's only a matter of time before developers just stop.
Completely untrue.
Skyrim was the third best selling PC game in the UK last year and appears at number 5 in the overall list. Football Manager 2011 and 2012, which were first and second don't even appear in the all platform list.
Oh but PC gaming is completely dead right? lol, so clueless.
Okay let me put it differently. The top selling game on the PC doesn't appear on the all platform list. The third best selling game on the PC appears on the list at 5 BECAUSE OF IT'S CONSOLE SALES.
You tell me lies, I use FACTS to illustrate your lie and I'm clueless? Learn to read moron.
True, it's not a recent article and they could get their fats wrong but I did use a source same as you. If this information is wrong, it's not a lie, it's just wrong.
I also want to take a look at your sale stats. Very often digital sales are not included.

Do your statistics take into account digital distribution? It's become an extremely popular method of purchacing PC games. I haven't bought a PC game at a retail store for years, yet I buy new PC games all the time via Steam and the like.

Indeed, but you have to factor in that if I built a PC, it wouldn't work. No ifs, no buts, if I built one, it would break.Hainkpe wrote...

Download any of these demos(especially, hair, water, deformity) and see how greatly your consumption of console decrepitude has stomped progress to the ground for almost a decade now.
Notice that all this is actually quite old not even requiring latest hardware but only DX11.
Anger towards console peasantry is well deserved. You trully are a bane to the gaming industry.
You don't need thousands of dollars for a DX11 machine.

But you said PC gaming is dead? It's clearly not "moron." Just because PC games don't sell as well as consoles doesn't mean PC gaming is dead. I should also add I don't think PC gaming has ever been as popular compared to consoles, at least since the nintendo days.
But I guess that means it's been dead for the last 25+ years right? Oh wait...
It goes in cycles and picks up towards the end of each console generation. Rapidly drops not long into the next , then picks up again.
This console generation is overlong. But thats mostly the fault of publishers like EA/Activision, you make more money in an established console market than a new one. A new console generation will also increase their costs. Understandable if you are them ,but it's holding things back more than it should.

If I may butt in, PC gaming can actually be extremely profitable due to how large digital distribution is. Since publishers don't have to pay nearly as much for game boxes, manuals and whatnot due to the insane amount of people purchasing off of Steam, GoG, GMG, Gamersgate, and even Origin, it's actually a far more profitable, alive industry than people give it credit for.SKiLLYWiLLY2 wrote...

Creating a custom build for a PC is where science meets art. Hands down. You can overclock, you can make adjustments, you can do anything you want. Its a great skill to learn. I say, learn it. You'll be happier in the long run and there are plenty of websites out there that help you with the figuring out specs. Then you don't have to worry about proprietary software or an a limited warranty. Not to mention you build it right, you have a machine that is cheaper in the long run, and upgradeable which will allow it to last longer than the prefabs.johnbonhamatron wrote...

But that's my belief. Not everyone can do this. I am just glad I did. Good luck man.

Show me where I said it was dead.
My argument was based on the comment that in the UK the "PC is the most popular gaming platform" Which completely untrue.
If you want to turn this into a debate about the interpretation of the word 'finished' we can do that. My point to you is that PC sales figures have fallen steadily over the last decade to the point where they barely register.

Actually, what usually happens is that the consoles stagnate and the market completely crashes on the console side, driving gaming back to the PC's for many years.
Which is right about where we are today, consoles are releasing endless "Me too!" titles, and revenues are dropping by double digits. 2012 was a drop, a really massive one if you cut out COD. January 2012 was a 37% drop.
It's cyclical, but the bigger shift is when the consoles just start releasing the same couple of games over and over again.

It sold 3.5 million on PC and it's climbing. It also supports modding, and it does so really, really well.

Well you might have heard of Kickstarter... it's this thing where a developer offers to develop a game for the gamers and whoever pays for it in advanced are entitled to bonuses. Community funded development is a wonderful thing.
