We are not the problem. Microsoft and Sony are simply offering a service.

In the end, companies could have decided to make better versions for the PC. They didn't. It's their fault and not ours.

They're probably recovering from long shifts of moderating. I've seen other less well known moderators stepping in for Chris and Stanley since around 12 hours ago..

This has got to be my favorite threads ever - surrounded by my fellow PC elitists... it feels like "home".

I don't hate console gamers - some of my closest friends game on consoles.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this from PC elitists more often.

more like 600 for a high-end PC without peripherals and you are set for 2 years.

If you can't make 600 dollars in 2 years, that's 1.2 dollars per day, you need to think long and hard about your life.

Its not so much the attainability as the price itself. 300 dollars a year. Xbox's have been 300 dollars for how many years now? I think most people would rather save money than have the up-to-date graphics.

I can see that point, but I've personally saved a lot of money on the abundant amount of bundles and sales for PC games on Digital Distribution sites. I rarely see console games drop to prices nearly as low as PC titles unless they do absolutely horribly and the retailers just want to get them sold asap.

I live in Norway, and a new PS3 game will often run me 500-600 NOK, whilst a new PC game via Steam generally costs me no more than 350 NOK, barring certain titles that cost 450 NOK. During the weekend and midweek sales for slighlty older titles, I've bought games for as little as 20 NOK. And that's not counting the ability to get CD Keys for new games extremely cheaply by purchacing them via trusted distributors and entering said key into your service client.

But hey, to each their own imo.

I grew up playing PC games. My first game was Outpost. It came on like 9 floppy disks. I remember crying because my dad's old 386 only had 2MB of RAM, and WarCraft 2 required 4MB RAM. I would consider that era the real "golden age" of PC gaming. Early Blizzard games, Red Alert, Black Isle games, then a bit later Half Life and the incredible mod community.

You see, back then it was all about the games. Now it seems PC gamers see themselves as somehow superior (an absurd idea, seeing as we're talking about g-ddamn VIDEO GAMES), but all they ever talk about is graphics and hardware. Because ultimately, that's the only "superior" element of PC gaming. Sure, theres the mod community, a big plus. And arguably a mouse and keyboard is a "better" control setup (it certainly is for strategy games, otherwise its debateable). And I work my ass off, but I can't afford to drop thousands on a machine to play GAMES. So as a gamer, what should I do? Play nothing except old games on my laptop?

But look at all these PC players whining about ME3. There's nothing about the actual gameplay. It's all "omg bioware i cant believe you guys don't have these uber ultra PC elite graphics options you guys don't care!" Really??

Its sad. The platform that spawned gaming, used to be all about gameplay>graphics, is now the total opposite. And don't give me that bulls*it about "dumbed down console games." The most popular game ever is The Sims. What a hardcore PC elite gamer's game that is. Ever played KoTOR? BioShock? Shadow of the Colossus? Even Mass Effect? What "shallow" games those are...oh wait those are console games.

And finally, I'm sick of seeing these threads here. Mass Effect IS A CONSOLE GAME. It was ported to the PC.

Aww how cute another PC fan boy crying about supremacy, jesus i thought the console wars were ridiculous but noone whines like a pc fanboy, If theres anyone to blame its you, Developers no longer tailor to the PC because half the time PC fanboys steal their games through websites like pirate bay, why would developers focus on a port that is responsible for 90% of the pirating? its economics.

How about we just agree to disagree on this one?

Both consoles and PC's have their advantages and disadvantages and let's keep it at that.

I play my games on a PC, but I do not need fancy graphics in order to enjoy a game (I'll admit, it does help a bit...).

@jreezy: Don't think ill of me... my thoughts on this topic are largely tongue in cheek.

I have this one console friend - I call him "Token Charity Case" - who I watch playing his little console and I feel so bad for him. He knows computers are better - he used to be a huge computer guy - but then he decided that sitting in an office chair was "roughing it" and he needed a sofa to sit on.

Soft in the seat - soft in the head - I always say.

Ah yes, I've heard of some of the digital distribution deals, quite good from what I've been told. There it does come down to personal need/preference though. Example: Can you get a deal like that during a game's release week? I don't buy a lot of games, but when I do(yay beer commercial), its during release week, if its not a preorder. At that point, unless digital distributors make great deals even for that (free copy of BF3 comes to mind), the advantages are small for me.

Uh, sorry for owning a console. When ME1 came out, my pc at the time did not have enough powah to run me1, so I got it on my box, and when me2 came out they said I could import my char and did not want to replay me1 again.

I, me personally, am sure I have not killed pc gaming....since well, uh, I am a pc gamer as well. I play skyrim on the PC. I only get PC games when they are openly mod-able.

And plus, I don't have to deal with origin.

Can't we all just get along? We are all gamers, period. Grow up, will ya?
