Fuk'nhell.
Never-bloody-mind.
My mistake for forgetting that the one thing BSN is famous for is missing is the point.
"Herp, you is dumb 'cause you is trying to get across the idea through a bit of satire and some pointed hyperbole that maybe people should wait and see before atrociously overreacting..."
"Exercise in futility"? You got that right. It didn't take long, either.
Jeez-us. Have your way.
Mods - do whatever. Apologies to you sensitive souls and outraged patrons. Maybe if scientists come up with new ways to measure heavy densities they can call the term "BSNs". It'd fit.
If anything, it's a lovely example of how people interpret and not actually read anything written on this insanely-at-times-insufferable board. <_<

Why should CE buyers agree to this? It says you get a DLC character, so you get him.
I swear, had this been Vega, nobody would have complained :/
Yes. Because there are seventeen other generic space marines in ME3.
and none would have noticed but the small few that looked at it and Wait a mintue
kinda like what happend with Sebastion.

No I get your point. You want no one to get it until a later date, then everyone pay for it on that date to eliminate the unecessary outcries against the DLC.
The problem is it won't work. You presume that the Collector Edition folks will follow along with that, and the non-collector edition crowd is even behind such an idea, when many of them think the DLC is tainted to begin with.
In the end, if this happens, the collector edition people will not be happy because many will feel cheated out of the DLC that was in the game and promised to them, and the non-collector edition people will not be happy because they will still complain about it being integral to the game and something that was removed from development.
So you don't solve anything, you make it worse.

They should just make the DLC character a CE exclusive again.
I agree.

So to avoid a manufactured claim of "unethical" behavior, they should engage in actual unethical behavior by denying the CE purchasers access to something that was advertised and that they paid for?
<ROCK> Bioware <Hardplace>
To continue the theme perhaps the CE owners should just back down so that the child can live?
It was never listed as anything other than a "bonus" after all.
Haha, cool story. You think if we CE owners all just got together and sent BioWare a letter and said we were cool with SE owners getting it for free, that would change their DLC plans? Costing them potentially millions of dollars? That's cute.

All written satire will be misinterpreted by some as earnest. Effective satire minimizes the number of people who don't "get it." That burden is on you as a writer, not on us as readers.

Please do not force your moral standpoint down others throats. You want to take a stand, good for you, but do not push your ideology to other ppl.
Let me attempt - no doubt with more futility - to explain what has been so obviously skimmed over:
This was in jest. It was an attempt to illustrate the ridiculousness of the uproar over this DLC, and how contentious the "debate" has become.
Did it fail? On one hand, yes, because I apparently wasn't obvious enough - (nevermind that this would have defeated the purpose of this in the first place, but...), but on the other hand it has illustrated quite beautifully, with very few posts, how people on BSN can almost instantly overreact to things they couldn't even take the time to stop and think about. I know full well how likely any real changes to whatever Bioware will do to this game are, - yes, zippo - but it wasn't my purpose to get Bioware to change anything.
It's no wonder the outrage over something as stupidly inconsequential as a $10 DLC is approaching 300 pages in two days.
I started this thread because even though I had participated in that thread, I still couldn't quite believe the sheer depth of blind zealotry and self-serving malice on display over there.
I believe it now.
If people put this much vehement effort into something of real consequence, the frigg'n planet would be at peace inside of a week.
So, I thank you, sincerely, yes - sincerely, for giving me a new perspective on things.
Please. Continue. It's extremely educational.

You know BW could have easily said that this Day1 DLC is CE/DDE only, then if the feel like it release it 6-12 months and make you still paid for this DLC.

That's true to an extent, but tell me, how can a company release DLC when it's not done? Of course BioWare has some influence on the release date. They worked hard these last 2-3 months after the game was done to allow the DLC to be available Day 1. Whether EA decided it should be Day 1 or not is irrelevant; BioWare supports the date. In hindsight, that may have been a mistake, but for those who can't get their hands on the CE because A) It's sold out,Fiery Phoenix wrote...
You guys keep assuming BioWare has anything to do with DLC release dates. It's all on EA, and they're not known for listening to fan requests.

What?!
That's terrible solution!
Why? If no one has it, than no one has a legit right to whine about not getting it.
You would have to live in a fantasy world if you think that removing what you label "a legit right to whine" would lead to a decline in whining.
It would in-fact lead to an increase.
Why? Because there's already a group of people who are unhappy. The solution doesn't necessarily lead to them being any happier and this does not address any perceieved inequities. It only fixes a problem for opponents of Day 1 DLC if they buy the notion that taking a Day 1 DLC and releasing it isn't playing smoke and mirrors w/ content.
Then, of course, there's the group that is supposed to get Day 1 DLC for free who will have to wait until the end of the year to recieve the content they've already paid for. That should lead to a net increase in whining by creating an actual legitimate right to whine.
Then there's the group that will whine for the sake of whining becuase they're whiners.
No. I see a massive gain in whining as a result of your proposal.
EDIT: Saw later posts...
